Custom wood and metal gates, rails and grillwork, and masonry arch were added to the wall. The new entry gate used wood salvaged from cut-off sections of the new trellis added to the garage. Large nail heads in the gate and details in the railing duplicate the detail on the new entry door. Photo by Frank Baptie Photography.

A striking bronze sculpture by Michael Mc Donald welcomes everyone to the 2nd floor. Custom wood bark wallpaper is framed out by wood detailing to anchor the space. Delicate iron sconces help to create a bit of texture in the space. Photo by Chris Snitko

A large bay window is a welcoming feature of the private entry court to the residence. Accent elements of copper, stone, and leaded glass bring character to this informal cottage. To maintain the intimate scale in the larger interior spaces, I included small sitting alcoves as well as color, texture, and details to the ceilings.

Door within a door: What once was a heavy and offputting detail...we bring to you the clever solution of a security door built right into the main entry door, just open up the center panel and get all of that wonderful fresh air and light minus the bugs and with the plus of keeping the door locked. Looks great both inside and out while maintaining that historic Spanish bungalow feel.
