Vale Garden HousesOur designer chose to work with softer faceted shapes for the garden room to create a contrast with the squares and angles of the existing building. To the left of the garden room, a porch provides a link to the house separated from the living space by internal doors. The window detail reflects that on the house with the exception of two windows to the rear wall of the orangery, which have rounded tops. Two sets of doors open onto two elevations - designed to provide maximum appreciation of the outside.

Marker Girl HomeThe sitting area is separate and narrow she wanted seating to sit in and relax to look at the lovely views of the garden. So I added a settee and storage ottoman both custom made with a side table and blue jar shaped lamp all complimenting the beautiful color palette in the garden.

Alexandra Rae DesignThis blue and white sunroom, adjacent to a dining area, occupies a large enclosed porch. The home was newly constructed to feel like it had stood for centuries. The dining porch, which is fully enclosed was built to look like a once open porch area, complete with clapboard walls to mimic the exterior.
We filled the space with French and Swedish antiques, like the daybed which serves as a sofa, and the marble topped table with brass gallery. The natural patina of the pieces was duplicated in the light fixtures with blue verdigris and brass detail, custom designed by Alexandra Rae, Los Angeles, fabricated by Charles Edwardes, London. Motorized grass shades, sisal rugs and limstone floors keep the space fresh and casual despite the pedigree of the pieces. All fabrics are by Schumacher.

Vale Garden HousesThis stunning light-filled Orangery is perfect for dining and for hosting guests. This large extension incorporates twin lanterns and three pairs of curved arched double doors that open out onto the terrace which creates an interesting and purposeful room.

Joni Spear Interior DesignIn the well-used adjoining breakfast room, we added an iconic Serena & Lily marble bistro table and Riviera rattan dining chairs. The open-cage, Diego Giacometti-inspired pendant with four elegant, floral blooms in an antique-burnished brass finish pairs well with the pen and ink botanical prints. The sitting room’s crown jewel is the cloverleaf ottoman upholstered in an unexpected woven-zebra velvet. After showing my client the fabric, I learned it was discontinued at the production mill. Not knowing how long it would take the company to find another mill, I suggested reconsidering the choice. But my smitten client was determined to have it - and it was well worth the wait.
Four classic club chairs nestle the ottoman inviting family conversation; a special point of interest is that there are no televisions in any of the family living spaces.
The “Gem Modern Vine Chandelier” by Hammerton offers an intriguing juxtaposition of organic and geometric design to the vaulted ceiling. The expansive windows were left uncovered to bring in as much natural light as possible while offering a verdant view of the lush backyard.
