This is a huge space in the attic covering the entire house, this area is the reading room for the clients children - also to have the ability to possibly use the space underneath the TV to put a desk if needed. We took advantage of the alcoves and our carpenter added the shelves into the space with recessed lighting. This shows how designer items and high street can work well together - this is the classic Ligne Roset Togo with an Ikea rug and Missoni pouffes.

A tired mid century house gets a serious glow up! This mid century terrace was definitely the ugly duckling on the street. It has lost all its 60's credentials and was in serious need of some love. Now it is the standout house that turns heads every day! This project was a complete whole house renovation that literally left not a single internal wall standing! A newly created loft master bedroom and ensuite was added and the first floor layout was remodelled to create two double bedrooms and a home office. The ground floor was opened up to create a large broken plan space, with a lounge, kitchen and down stairs w/c added. Bespoke carpentry was designed to enhance the storage and create some show stopping stairs and balustrades. Finally, the interior was designed to bring back it's mid century soul.

This penthouse apartment situated in the heart of the capitol demanded a stunning and inviting roof garden to really give the client a stunning outside space in the ultimate Urban setting. Working with the Landscaper, we helped develop this amazing covered seating pergola. The design incorporated an extruded aluminium framework with motorised aluminium louvres to give the client shade control but to give the space weather protection. We then included remote operated LED perimeter lighting within the roof along with an integrated heater.

The brief was to create a Classic Contemporary Ensuite and Principle bedroom which would be home to a number of Antique furniture items, a traditional fireplace and Classical artwork. We created key zones within the bathroom to make sufficient use of the large space; providing a large walk-in wet-floor shower, a concealed WC area, a free-standing bath as the central focus in symmetry with his and hers free-standing basins. We ensured a more than adequate level of storage through the vanity unit, 2 bespoke cabinets next to the window and above the toilet cistern as well as plenty of ledge spaces to rest decorative objects and bottles. We provided a number of task, accent and ambient lighting solutions whilst also ensuring the natural lighting reaches as much of the room as possible through our design. Our installation detailing was delivered to a very high level to compliment the level of product and design requirements.

This house gave us the opportunity to create a variety of bathroom spaces and explore colour and style. The bespoke vanity unit offers plenty of storage. The terrazzo-style tiles on the floor have bluey/green/grey hues which guided the colour scheme for the rest of the space. The black taps and shower accessories, make the space feel contemporary. The walls are painted in a dark grey/blue tone which makes the space feel incredibly cosy.

Our client bought a Hacienda styled house in Hove, Sussex, which was unloved, and had a dilapidated pool and garden, as well as a tired interior. We provided a full architectural and interior design service through to completion of the project, developing the brief with the client, and managing a complex project and multiple team members including an M and E consultant, stuctural engineer, specialist pool and glazing suppliers and landscaping designers. We created a new basement under the house and garden, utilising the gradient of the site, to minimise excavation and impact on the house. It contains a new swimming pool, gym, living and entertainment areas, as well as storage and plant rooms. Accessed through a new helical staircase, the basement area draws light from 2 full height glazed walls opening onto a lower garden area. The glazing was a Skyframe system supplied by cantifix. We also inserted a long linear rooflight over the pool itself, which capture sunlight onto the water below. The existing house itself has been extended in a fashion sympathetic to the original look of the house. We have built out over the existing garage to create new living and bedroom accommodation, as well as a new ensuite. We have also inserted a new glazed cupola over the hallway and stairs, and remodelled the kitchen, with a curved glazed wall and a modern family kitchen. A striking new landscaping scheme by Alladio Sims has embeded the redeveloped house into its setting. It is themed around creating a journey around different zones of the upper and lower gardens, maximising opportunities of the site, views of the sea and using a mix of hard and soft landscaping. A new minimal car port and bike storage keep cars away from the front elevation of the house. Having obtained planning permission for the works in 2019 via Brighton and Hove council, for a new basement and remodelling of the the house, the works were carrried out and completed in 2021 by Woodmans, a contractor we have partnered with on many occasions.

Tucked away in a row of terraced houses in Stoke Newington, this Victorian home has been renovated into a contemporary modernised property with numerous architectural glazing features to maximise natural light and give the appearance of greater internal space. 21st-Century living dictates bright sociable spaces that are more compatible with modern family life. A combination of different window features plus a few neat architectural tricks visually connect the numerous spaces… A contemporary glazed roof over the rebuilt side extension on the lower ground floor floods the interior of the property with glorious natural light. A large angled rooflight over the stairway is bonded to the end of the flat glass rooflights over the side extension. This provides a seamless transition as you move through the different levels of the property and directs the eye downwards into extended areas making the room feel much bigger. The SUNFLEX bifold doors at the rear of the kitchen leading into the garden link the internal and external spaces extremely well. More lovely light cascades in through the doors, whether they are open or shut. A cute window seat makes for a fabulous personal space to be able to enjoy the outside views within the comfort of the home too. A frameless glass balustrade descending the stairwell permits the passage of light through the property and whilst it provides a necessary partition to separate the areas, it removes any visual obstruction between them so they still feel unified. The clever use of space and adaption of flooring levels has significantly transformed the property, making it an extremely desirable home with fantastic living areas. No wonder it sold for nearly two million recently!

The walnut breakfast bar with raised chairs offers social seating for people to chat with the cook whilst they are busy preparing dinner on the island. Handleless cupboards, opened by a gentle push, maximise the storage space within the island without interrupting the sleek finish.

This image portrays a sleek and modern bathroom vanity design that exudes luxury and sophistication. The vanity features a dark wood finish with a pronounced grain, providing a rich contrast to the bright, marbled countertop. The clean lines of the cabinetry underscore a minimalist aesthetic, while the undermount sink maintains the seamless look of the countertop. Above the vanity, a large mirror reflects the bathroom's interior, amplifying the sense of space and light. Elegant wall-mounted faucets with a brushed gold finish emerge directly from the marble, adding a touch of opulence and an attention to detail that speaks to the room's bespoke quality. The lighting is provided by a trio of globe lights set against a muted grey wall, casting a soft glow that enhances the warm tones of the brass fixtures. A roman shade adorns the window, offering privacy and light control, and contributing to the room's tranquil ambiance. The marble flooring ties the elements together with its subtle veining, reflecting the same patterns found in the countertop. This bathroom combines functionality with design excellence, showcasing a preference for high-quality materials and a refined color palette that together create an inviting and restful retreat.

This client was inspired to go bold but her husband preferred to stay neutral. This was cleverly navigated by creating this scheme which is still light and airy with white walls but the terrazzo tiles bring an element of texture and fun.

Located on the dramatic North Cornwall coast and within a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), the clients for this remarkable contemporary family home shared our genuine passion for sustainability, the environment and ecology. One of the first Hempcrete block buildings in Cornwall, the dwelling’s unique approach to sustainability employs the latest technologies and philosophies whilst utilising traditional building methods and techniques. Wherever practicable the building has been designed to be ‘cement-free’ and environmentally considerate, with the overriding ambition to have the capacity to be ‘off-grid’. Wood-fibre boarding was used for the internal walls along with eco-cork insulation and render boards. Lime render and plaster throughout complete the finish. Externally, there are concrete-free substrates to all external landscaping and a natural pool surrounded by planting of native species aids the diverse ecology and environment throughout the site. A ground Source Heat Pump provides hot water and central heating in conjunction with a PV array with associated battery storage. Photographs: Stephen Brownhill
