Jumping onboard. OHi started as a flooring shop in Chicago in the 1940s. Ray Kautz, the original owner, taught his sons everything about the products and the business, Royer says. They eventually broke off to form their own companies, but their father’s passing brought them back together.Royer, who has spent his entire career in the home service industry, came onboard to help the brothers merge their businesses in 2011. “I started my career working with small businesses, and I wanted to get back to that,” he says.
