The living room done country style on a very low budget. Furnishings in country and rustic style. The table between the windows is a family heirloom, the old rocking chair is antique, and the coffee table is an old sled. Photo taken by Paul S. Robinson

This loftspace has been transformed into a cool bedroom by taking the ceiling up into the roof and dropping two pendant lamps from Habitat down over the bed as bedside lamps. The pink is picked up in the bedding and chunky runner whilst the rug and side lamp warm the room through with a hint of gold. The bedding was hand dyed using an ombre effect to match the Clarissa Hulse wallpaper downstairs.

I built this on my property for my aging father who has some health issues. Handicap accessibility was a factor in design. His dream has always been to try retire to a cabin in the woods. This is what he got. It is a 1 bedroom, 1 bath with a great room. It is 600 sqft of AC space. The footprint is 40' x 26' overall. The site was the former home of our pig pen. I only had to take 1 tree to make this work and I planted 3 in its place. The axis is set from root ball to root ball. The rear center is aligned with mean sunset and is visible across a wetland. The goal was to make the home feel like it was floating in the palms. The geometry had to simple and I didn't want it feeling heavy on the land so I cantilevered the structure beyond exposed foundation walls. My barn is nearby and it features old 1950's "S" corrugated metal panel walls. I used the same panel profile for my siding. I ran it vertical to math the barn, but also to balance the length of the structure and stretch the high point into the canopy, visually. The wood is all Southern Yellow Pine. This material came from clearing at the Babcock Ranch Development site. I ran it through the structure, end to end and horizontally, to create a seamless feel and to stretch the space. It worked. It feels MUCH bigger than it is. I milled the material to specific sizes in specific areas to create precise alignments. Floor starters align with base. Wall tops adjoin ceiling starters to create the illusion of a seamless board. All light fixtures, HVAC supports, cabinets, switches, outlets, are set specifically to wood joints. The front and rear porch wood has three different milling profiles so the hypotenuse on the ceilings, align with the walls, and yield an aligned deck board below. Yes, I over did it. It is spectacular in its detailing. That's the benefit of small spaces. Concrete counters and IKEA cabinets round out the conversation. For those who could not live in a tiny house, I offer the Tiny-ish House. Photos by Ryan Gamma Staging by iStage Homes Design assistance by Jimmy Thornton

Here are some other similar color options. A dark bold color compliments the yellow brick and the features are conservatively accented. Most go overboard here and you need to know what you can and can't accent or it will look tacky.

Do you want to update your Living Room but cannot part with your Favorite Traditional Style Piece of furniture? No problem! We'll show you how to blend them together! **UPDATE** We also work with clients all over the country! Our virtual designers have experience as local and long distance design consultants. Our designers offer professional fabric and design recommendations, free estimates and have a great ability to communicate via email or phone to help conceptualize the project and see it through to the final stages. Fabric samples are mailed directly to you and we also provide easy installation guides. We like this design because it is updating a traditional home into more of a "contemporary" look. There's a fine line when trying to accomplish this. You want the updated look to not compete with the traditional architecture of the home or an existing traditional piece of furniture that you may still want to reuse. The living room was updated with the use of white drapery sheers and metal 1/2" blinds. The metal was tied into the space by the new coffee table, end table and metal framed art. The traditional end chair in the plaid fabric was an original piece. The chair needed help blending into the space. To accomplish this, the paisley pillows were added to the new sofa. In addition, the storage basket and rug adds a traditional-style flare to the room so the chair doesn't feel like the only traditional piece in the room. It's also worth mentioning that the paisley fabric in the pillows have a curvature to them which is why the wave printed draperies were used. We have been in business since November 1998 and started in the window covering business by cleaning & repairing blinds. This gave us a unique perspective from most window covering dealers. We have always considered how well products hold up and which manufacturers stand behind their products the best. We let our clients know the benefits of more expensive products and give honest feedback. We take pride in showing alternative products to fit all budgets. Our great testimonials on Angie’s List, Houzz.com and referrals have helped our company grow without the need for “conventional” advertising. Abda means ‘servant’. At Abda, we approach every customer with a servant’s attitude. This philosophy has helped our customers feel confident in their purchases and well-taken care of. Our number one focus is customer service and we believe in putting the customer’s needs first. We offer our clients an additional 2 year warranty on top of the manufacturer’s warranty and want each and every client to be completely happy with their purchase. We’ve been awarded the prestigious 2013 Angie’s List Super Service Award, an honor bestowed annually on approximately 5 percent of all the businesses rated on the nation’s leading provider of consumer reviews.
