This project was a complete gut remodel of the owner's childhood home. They demolished it and rebuilt it as a brand-new two-story home to house both her retired parents in an attached ADU in-law unit, as well as her own family of six. Though there is a fire door separating the ADU from the main house, it is often left open to create a truly multi-generational home. For the design of the home, the owner's one request was to create something timeless, and we aimed to honor that.

Main Line Kitchen Design is a unique business model! We are a group of skilled Kitchen Designers each with many years of experience planning kitchens around the Delaware Valley. And we are cabinet dealers for 8 nationally distributed cabinet lines much like traditional showrooms. Unlike full showrooms open to the general public, Main Line Kitchen Design works only by appointment. Appointments can be scheduled days, nights, and weekends either in your home or in our office and selection center. During office appointments we display clients kitchens on a flat screen TV and help them look through 100’s of sample doorstyles, almost a thousand sample finish blocks and sample kitchen cabinets. During home visits we can bring samples, take measurements, and make design changes on laptops showing you what your kitchen can look like in the very room being renovated. This is more convenient for our customers and it eliminates the expense of staffing and maintaining a larger space that is open to walk in traffic. We pass the significant savings on to our customers and so we sell cabinetry for less than other dealers, even home centers like Lowes and The Home Depot.

They wanted a contemporary cottage styled kitchen with blue cabinets to contrast their love of blue, red, and yellow. The homeowners can now come home to a stunning teal (aqua) blue kitchen that grabs center stage in this contemporary home with cottage details. Bria Cabinetry by Dura Supreme with an affordable Personal Paint Match finish to "Calypso" SW 6950 in the Craftsman Beaded Panel door style. This kitchen was featured in HGTV Magazine summer of 2014 in the Kitchen Chronicles. Here's a quote from the designer's interview that was featured in the issue. "Every time you enter this kitchen, it's like walking into a Caribbean vacation. It's upbeat and tropical, and it can be paired with equally vivid reds and greens. I was worried the homeowners might get blue fatigue, and it's definitely a gutsy choice for a rural Wisconsin home. You can add a breakfast bar or counter to your existing kitchen units, or stick with a good old-fashioned dining table if you don’t need the extra work surfaces. There are a huge variety of island designs to cater to different needs – you can have sinks, ovens, hobs, wine storage and all sorts of drawers and organisers built-in, you can have separate bars and counters that extend from your island, or you could go for a kitchen island on wheels to make your kitchen layout more versatile.

How do I choose my kitchen units and cabinets?

Shaker style cabinets and raised and recessed panel cabinets offer a more traditional kitchen cabinet look, while flat panel cabinet doors tend to lend more to the modern and contemporary style. You can also look at corner drawers and cupboards that open up to reveal lots of extra storage.
