What was once a confused mixture of enclosed rooms, has been logically transformed into a series of well proportioned spaces, which seamlessly flow between formal, informal, living, private and outdoor activities. Opening up and connecting these living spaces, and increasing access to natural light has permitted the use of a dark colour palette. The finishes combine natural Australian hardwoods with synthetic materials, such as Dekton porcelain and Italian vitrified floor tiles

The brief from the homeowners was that an existing antique buffet & hutch and also a painted, timber island trolley were to be retained and used as inspiration for the new kitchen cabinetry. The colours of the new cabinets were directly inspired by these antique items with the soft, olive hue drawn from the distressed, island trolley. The kitchen design however takes a more contemporary approach with engineered quartz benchtops and splashbacks, clean lines and modern appliances including a fully integrated dishwasher. The homeowners were thrilled with the improved functionality of their new kitchen as well as the ease at which it fits into their traditional style home.

A marble hearth behind the La Cornue range and brass trimmed hood center under a graceful herring bone brick barrel ceiling. Heavy distressed wood beams contrast from the white painted decking ceiling in the nook. Glass shelving and marble counters reflect the natural light spilling in from 16 foot tall windows.

Our client purchased this 1960s home in it’s near original state, and from the moment we saw it we knew it would quickly become one of our favourite projects! We worked together to ensure that the new design would stick to it’s true roots and create better functioning spaces for her to enjoy. Clean lines and contrasting finishes work together to achieve a modern home that is welcoming, fun, and perfect for entertaining - exactly what midcentury modern design is all about! Our client was renovating a house on Sydney’s Northern Beaches so a light, bright, beach feel was the look they were after. The brief was to design a functional, free-flowing kitchen that included an island for practicality, but maintained flow of the space. To create interest and drama the client wanted to use large format stone as a splashback and island feature. In keeping with clean, uncluttered look, the appliances are hidden in a multi-function corner pantry with drawers. An integrated fridge adds to the neat finish of the kitchen. Appliances: Miele Stone: Quantum Statuario Quartz Sink: Franke Tap: Oliverti Fridge: Fisher & Paykel Handles: Artia Cabinetry: Dallas Door in Dulux White

Gayler Design BuildGayler Design Build
When this family approached Gayler Design Build, they had a unique, octagon-shaped room that lacked flow and modern amenities. The home initially was constructed from three small houses that were "joined" together to create this unusual shape. It was important for the family to keep the open floor plan but add more functional space, to include new cabinetry and a large center island. In order to build the open floor plan, Gayler Design Build had to design around a central post and refinish the octagon concrete flooring, which was cut to reconfigure items in space and access sewer lines, etc.

This kitchen shows a classic design in a mix of greys with a high gloss finish, Stainless steel handle-less base units, which has then been mixed with White quartz worktops. These colours really compliment the feature Granite flooring in the room. The kitchen has stainless steel handle-less base units, which has then been mixed with White quartz worktops. The customer also specified a custom Granite breakfast bar, which is moveable. The breakfast bar goal post style sits over the island and has the option to pull out to create a breakfast bar over hang for bar stools. This bespoke feature was created by the stone fabricators Stone Connection based in Wheldrake in York.
