We expanded this 1974 home from 1,200 square feet to 1,600 square feet with a new front addition and large kitchen remodel! This home was in near-original condition, with dark wood doors & trim, carpet, small windows, a cramped entry, and a tiny kitchen and dining space. The homeowners came to our design-build team seeking to increase their kitchen and living space and update the home's style with durable new finishes. "We're hard on our home!", our clients reminded us during the design phase of the project. The highlight of this project is the entirely remodeled kitchen, which rests in the combined footprint of the original small kitchen and the dining room. The crisp blue and white cabinetry is balanced against the warmth of the wide plank hardwood flooring, custom-milled wood trim, and new wood ceiling beam. This family now has space to gather around the large island, designed to have a useful function on each side. The entertaining sides of the island host bar seating and a wine refrigerator and built-in bottle storage. The cooking and prep sides of the island include a bookshelf for cookbooks --perfectly within reach of the gas cooktop and double ovens-- and a microwave drawer across from the refrigerator; only a step away to reheat meals.

This young family wanted to update their kitchen and loved getting away to the coast. We tried to bring a little of the coast to their suburban Chicago home. The statement pantry doors with antique mirror add a wonderful element to the space. The large island gives the family a wonderful space to hang out, The custom "hutch' area is actual full of hidden outlets to allow for all of the electronics a place to charge. Warm brass details and the stunning tile complete the area.

El modelo seleccionado para este proyecto por su alta versatilidad ha sido Ak_Project, junto a un equipamiento de primeras marcas con la más alta tecnología del mercado. No te lo pierdas y obtén inspiración para tu nueva cocina.El mobiliario y la encimera El mobiliario de Ak_Project de nuestro fabricante Arrital se ha elegido en diferentes acabados, por un lado tenemos el lacado «sand» color Castoro Ottawa en mate, que posee un tacto extra suave y elegante. La apertura de la puerta con el perfil «Step» proporciona un efecto visual minimalista al conjunto. Para generar contraste se ha elegido una laca en negro brillante en los muebles altos, creando un acabado espejo que refleja perfectamente las vistas, potenciando la luminosidad en la estancia. En la encimera tenemos un Dekton modelo Galema en 4 cm de espesor que combina perfectamente con el color de la puerta, obteniendo un sólido efecto monocromo. Sobre la distribución de los muebles, se ha elegido un frente recto con muebles altos y columnas junto a una isla central que es practicable por ambas caras, de manera que podemos estar cocinando y a la vez disfrutando de las vistas al mar. De la isla sale una barra sostenida por una pieza de cristal, que la hace visualmente mucho más ligera, con capacidad de hasta cuatro comensales. Los electrodomésticos Para los electrodomésticos nuestro cliente ha confiado en la exclusiva marca Miele, empezando por la inducción en el modelo KM7667FL con 620 mm de ancho y una superficie de inducción total Con@ctivity 3.0. El horno modelo H2860BO está en columna con el microondas modelo M2230SC ambos de Miele en acabado obsidian black. El frigorífico K37672ID y el lavavajillas G5260SCVI, ambos de Miele, están integrados para que la cocina sea más minimalista visualmente. La campana integrada al techo modelo PRF0146248 HIGHLIGHT GLASS de Elica en cristal blanco es potente, silenciosa y discreta, fundiéndose con el techo gracias a su diseño moderno y elegante. Por último, tenemos una pequeña vinoteca en la isla modelo WI156 de la marca Caple. En la zona de aguas tenemos el fregadero de la maca Blanco modelo Elon XL en color antracita, junto con un grifo de Schock modelo SC-550. We’re delighted to be able to show this, our latest project in Welwyn Garden City. More than ever, we need our homes to do so much. We want the kitchens functional and beautiful, the living areas comfortable yet practical with plenty of storage - and when it’s open plan living, like this one, we want the spaces to connect in a stylish and individual way. Choosing a supplier that creates hand built, bespoke cabinets and fitted furniture is the very best way to ensure all boxes are ticked! In this project the kitchen and living areas have been hand built in a classic Shaker style which is sure to stand the test of time but with some lovely contemporary touches. The mirror splashback, in the kitchen, allows the natural light to bounce around the kitchen and the copper accents are bright and stylish and keep the whole look current. The pendants are from tom Dixon @tom_dixon11. The cabinets are hand painted in F&B’s downpipe which is a favourite, and for good reason. It contrasts beautifully with their chalky Wimbourne White and, in an open plan living situation like this, it sets the kitchen area apart from living area. At Planet we love combining two finishes. Here, the Corian worktop in Vanilla sits beautifully with the Solid oak Breakfast bar which in itself is great with a wooden floor. The colours and finishes continue into the Living Room which unifies the whole look. The cupboards and shelving are painted in Wimbourne White with accents of the Downpipe on the back panels of the shelving. A drinks cabinet has become a popular addition to our projects, and no wonder! It’s a stylish and fun addition to the room. With doors closed it blends perfectly with the run of storage cupboards and open – no detail has been overlooked. It has integrated lighting and the worktop is the same Vanilla Corian as the kitchen. To complete the drinks cupboard a scalloped oak wine rack below has been hand built by our skilled craftsmen.

The Kitchen was a major transformation from the dark cherry cabinetry and millwork that was used previously. The cabinetry was painted in a crisp white and the countertops were replaced with a white quartz. An ice blue glass waveline tile was used as the backsplash as well as the face of the peninsula bar. The island was replaced by custom designed angled cabinetry painted in a deep indigo blue finish which is illuminated by a natural woven pendant light. A natural textured wallcovering was installed on the upper ceiling to add additional texture to the space.

How do I choose my kitchen units and cabinets?

It’s always best to overestimate how much kitchen storage you’ll need as we all tend to have a habit of filling up whatever current space we have to the maximum. Next you can consider kitchen cabinet style and colour. Shaker style cabinets and raised and recessed panel cabinets offer a more traditional kitchen cabinet look, while flat panel cabinet doors tend to lend more to the modern and contemporary style. However, going for raised or recessed panel work in a striking colour such as dark blue, green or black can still work with contemporary kitchen ideas. White kitchens can give a sleek and clean feel, but remember you may have to do a bit more cleaning of those cupboard doors if you want everything to stay shiny and fresh. Of course, grey kitchens are the neutral colour choice du jour and can be paired with pale and rich shades alike if you want your fitted kitchen cupboards to contrast with your worktop, splashback, floor, or all of the above. Exposed shelving and storage is also popular for eclectic, Scandi and industrial-inspired looks, so you could opt for glass-fronted cabinets or no wall-mounted cabinets at all. Remember that this will require more restraint in what you can store and more effort in keeping it looking presentable compared to what is stored away hastily behind cupboard doors.
