The heart of this home is most definitely the kitchen! We erased every trace of the original builder kitchen and created a space that welcomes one and all. The glorious island, with its light cabinetry and dramatic quartz countertop, provides the perfect gathering place for morning coffee and baking sessions. At the perimeter of the kitchen, we selected a handsome grey finish with a brushed linen effect for an extra touch of texture that ties in with the high variation backsplash tile giving us a softened handmade feel. Black metal accents from the hardware to the light fixtures unite the kitchen with the rest of the home.

We anchored the kitchen with a large custom island that features a gorgeous single hand-hammered copper sink, bronze faucets and two dish washers. Along the wall is a French culinary handmade La Cornue stove and custom-built range hood that creates a stunning focal point. It’s surrounded by classic white stacked cabinetry—the left- and right-side cabinets flush with the countertops. The top row of cabinets is designed with glass-paneled doors and in-cabinet lighting perfect for highlighting kitchen collectibles. A convenient way to save valuable counter space, and help provide a clean, clutter-free look for the kitchen, we installed an appliance garage with plenty of storage. The large, walk-in pantry was designed with convenient roll out shelves. The kitchen countertops were topped with Taj Mahal quartzite, which were polished in a leathered finish to create the rustic feel our clients were looking for. Two large refrigerator/freezer combo units were designed into the space to provide plenty of food storage, both fresh and frozen. A convenient “Command Center” was added to one end of the refrigerator wall, concealed behind the cabinet doors, to store mail, a kid’s activity calendar, school papers, a bulletin board, etc. The base cabinet between the kitchen and great room was designed with plenty of drawers and a high-power docking station for charging multiple devices, including tablets, phones, reading devices, and headsets.

This kitchen has a "Traditional" design with an "Old World" twist. The kitchen is comprised of a painted cream, knotty alder, distressed door and a contrasting dark stained, knotty alder, distressed island. The combination of light and dark wood is a classic move in Traditional design, but the distressing tilts in the direction of Old World. The Counter tops are a combination of Quartz in the kitchen and an earth tone granite on the island to anchor the color palette. We kept the original brick to use as backsplash and the project is all built on "wood plank" porcelain tile. Enjoy!

This traditional kitchen design in Yorba Linda evokes a Mediterranean charm with unique features and a warm color scheme that will make it the center of attention in this home. The kitchen remodeling project involved structural changes to create the design this family wanted. The original kitchen was opened up into the family room, and a structural sheer wall was removed so that the space could be made larger and the layout open plan. The structural revisions included installing a steel beam with posts. The resulting space created the perfect spot for cooking, entertaining, and much more. Custom dual-toned kitchen cabinets from Bentwood Kitchens and Woodmode give the room a stunning, classic appearance. Light colored, distressed finish cabinetry was used in the island with a Grothouse walnut wood countertop. This cabinetry was also installed around the oven, the custom built-in Vent-a-Hood wood hood, and as part of the perimeter cabinets. This is contrasted by dark wood finish cabinetry on either side of the cooking area, which incorporates glass front upper cabinets. These cabinets are complemented by a beige-toned multi-colored granite countertop, which is also used on the island for an elevated counter, perfect for a breakfast bar or a casual glass of wine. The island also incorporates tambour doors at the island seating area. Enkeboll custom carvings are included throughout this area, such as in turning on the legs and crown molding, giving the room a one-of-a-kind appearance. The island includes both a central Shaw farmhouse sinks and a Rohl Shaw second sink, complemented by a Grohe faucet. The large Wolf range will help bring any culinary masterpiece to life, and a Miele dishwasher is ideal for clean-up. The Sub-Zero pro-48 refrigerator is a stunning glass-front model that brings both top of the line functionality and style to this Yorba Linda kitchen design. However, if the layout doesn’t work, especially if you have a small kitchen, then there’s no necessity to add in a kitchen island. You can add a breakfast bar or counter to your existing kitchen units, or stick with a good old-fashioned dining table if you don’t need the extra work surfaces. That said, if you do have the room, take a look at some kitchen island ideas to see if the designs inspire you for your kitchen. There are a huge variety of island designs to cater to different needs – you can have sinks, ovens, hobs, wine storage and all sorts of drawers and organisers built-in, you can have separate bars and counters that extend from your island, or you could go for a kitchen island on wheels to make your kitchen layout more versatile.

How do I choose my kitchen units and cabinets?

Shaker style cabinets and raised and recessed panel cabinets offer a more traditional kitchen cabinet look, while flat panel cabinet doors tend to lend more to the modern and contemporary style. However, going for raised or recessed panel work in a striking colour such as dark blue, green or black can still work with contemporary kitchen ideas. White kitchens can give a sleek and clean feel, but remember you may have to do a bit more cleaning of those cupboard doors if you want everything to stay shiny and fresh.
