A renovation on a tight timeframe meant we used our designer tricks to create a home that looks and feels completely different while keeping construction to a bare minimum. This beautiful Dulux 'Currency Creek' kitchen was custom made to fit the original kitchen layout. Opening the space up by adding glass steel framed doors and a double sided Mt Blanc fireplace allowed natural light to flood through.
PB Kitchen DesignThe light filled space has large windows and four doors, but works well in the strategically configured floor plan. Generous wall trim, exquisite light fixtures and modern stools create a warm ambiance. In the words of the homeowner, “it is beyond our dreams”.

Donald Lococo ArchitectsSubsequent additions are covered with living green walls to deemphasize stylistic conflicts imposed on a 1940’s Tudor and become backdrop surrounding a kitchen addition. On the interior, further added architectural inconsistencies are edited away, and the language of the Tudor’s original reclaimed integrity is referenced for the addition. Sympathetic to the home, windows and doors remain untrimmed and stark plaster walls contrast the original black metal windows. Sharp black elements contrast fields of white. With a ceiling pitch matching the existing and chiseled dormers, a stark ceiling hovers over the kitchen space referencing the existing homes plaster walls. Grid members in windows and on saw scored paneled walls and cabinetry mirror the machine age windows as do exposed steel beams. The exaggerated white field is pierced by an equally exaggerated 13 foot black steel tower that references the existing homes steel door and window members. Glass shelves in the tower further the window parallel. Even though it held enough dinner and glassware for eight, its thin members and transparent shelves defy its massive nature, allow light to flow through it and afford the kitchen open views and the feeling of continuous space. The full glass at the end of the kitchen reveres a grouping of 50 year old Hemlocks. At the opposite end, a window close to the peak looks up to a green roof.
Legacy Wood CreationsThis kitchen is built out of 1/4 sawn rustic white oak and then it was wire brushed for a textured finish. I then stained the completed cabinets Storm Grey, and then applied a white glaze to enhance the grain and appearance of texture.
The kitchen is an open design with 10′ ceilings with the uppers going all the way up. The top of the upper cabinets have glass doors and are backlit to add the the industrial feel. This kitchen features several nice custom organizers on each end of the front of the island with two hidden doors on the back of the island for storage.
Kelly and Carla also had me build custom cabinets for the master bath to match the kitchen.
Jared Frank StudioThe apartment's original enclosed kitchen was demolished to make way for an openplan kitchen with cabinets that housed my client's depression-era glass collection.
Bilotta Kitchen & HomeThis kitchen was a collaboration between senior designer, Jeff Eakley, and Kenny Alpert of KA Designs. Although it features contemporary-styled high-gloss cabinetry and flat panel doors, the decorative lighting, tray ceiling, pocket door, furniture and other finishes give it a traditional twist. The cabinetry is Bilotta’s contemporary line, Artcraft – the perimeter features the Portofino door with its integrated handle in a high gloss white. The island by contrast is a warmer walnut veneer also in a high gloss finish. The appliances are Miele’s all white collection so they fit beautifully into the surrounding white cabinets. The limited hardware that was used on the appliances is in a polished chrome finish to match the plumbing fixtures, lighting above the island, and the base of the table for the banquette seating near the pocket door. The countertops are quartzite and the backsplash are a mosaic of marble and quartz tile. The island has seating for two, while the banquette in the corner seats four. The flooring is a dark hardwood. Natural Stone InstituteThis residential kitchen project was performed in conjunction with Legacy Custom Homes/RSD, Frank Ponterio Interiors, and NuHaus/Exclusive
Woodworking.
The goal of this project was to fabricate and install marble slabs in a fashion that mimicked the custom millwork in the rest of this estate home on the
Northshore of Chicago. John Tithof and Jason Cranmer, along with the fabrication production team, executed this project on behalf of Tithof Tile & Marble.
The client wanted the panels to appear as if carved from dimensional stone blocks rather than the classic full height stone backsplash. One of the primary focuses was keeping the client involved through the templating
and layout process to ensure they knew what their project would look like before anything was cut or installed. The evolution of this process has changed in recent years. Gone are the days of blue tape and visualizing the completed job. With the recent introduction of the revolutionary Perfect Match and Slabsmith software programs we have the ability to digitally layout every slab project and create a virtual representation of the project for approval prior to cutting.
