The Main Company
Warm and welcoming are just two of the words that first come to mind when you set your eyes on this stunning space. Known for its culture and art exhibitions, Whitechapel is a vibrant district in the East End of London and this property reflects just that.
If you’re a fan of The Main Company, you will know that we are passionate about rustic, reclaimed materials and this space comprises everything that we love, mixing natural textures like concrete, brick, and wood, and the end result is outstanding.
Floor to ceiling Crittal style windows create a light and airy space, allowing the homeowners to go for darker, bolder accent colours throughout the penthouse apartment. The kitchen cabinetry has a Brushed Brass Finish, complementing the surrounding exposed brick perfectly, adding a vintage feel to the space along with other features such as a classic Butler sink. The handless cupboards add a modern touch, creating a kitchen that will last for years to come. The handless cabinetry and solid oaks drawers have been topped with concrete worktops as well as a concrete splashback beneath the Elica extractor.
Westbury Garden Rooms
The original space was a long, narrow room, with a tv and sofa on one end, and a dining table on the other. Both zones felt completely disjointed and at loggerheads with one another. Attached to the space, through glazed double doors, was a small kitchen area, illuminated in borrowed light from the conservatory and an uninspiring roof light in a connecting space.
But our designers knew exactly what to do with this home that had so much untapped potential. Starting by moving the kitchen into the generously sized orangery space, with informal seating around a breakfast bar. Creating a bright, welcoming, and social environment to prepare family meals and relax together in close proximity. In the warmer months the French doors, positioned within this kitchen zone, open out to a comfortable outdoor living space where the family can enjoy a chilled glass of wine and a BBQ on a cool summers evening.

The view from the sofa into the kitchen. A relatively small space but good coming has meant the area feels uncluttered yet still has a lot of storage.

ulia and Mathieu are a couple who have lived in Berlin-Friedrichshain for several years. Although they loved their apartment, they were never satisfied with their kitchen and dining area. Although the space was large, it felt cramped. There were many doorways and it was difficult to make it functional. Plus, there just wasn't enough counter space, and it was difficult to find enough room for all of their kitchen utensils. Julia and Mathieu are two wonderful people who radiated warmth and welcome but the gloomy kitchen did not do justice to their personalities. That is why they reached out to me, hoping that an architect would help them better plan their apartment remodel.

Serving as the heart of the home, this sleek and sexy kitchen features semi-custom modern slim shaker style cabinetry in Sherwin Williams Grizzle Gray. This color, rich in dark brown, black and blue undertones pairs exquisitely with the varied colors and veins within the stunning porcelain counter tops and counter to ceiling back splash. Diminutive flush-mount fixtures in wrapped brass positioned across the ceiling elevates this space even more as opposed to traditional recessed can lighting.
