Utensil and spice storage

Unlike the traditional complicated old world style kitchen that can be hard to maintain its good look; the modern minimalism kitchen has grown more popular because of its simple and uncomplicated look and most of all: its easy-to-clean characteristic. The streamlines and smooth surface brings a fresh atmosphere to the whole area. A 3000K-4000K color for lighting is recommended in this case to enhance the easy-chic style; index too low might ruin the ‘clean’ look and index too high will make the area look too ‘cold’.

This transitional home in Lower Kennydale was designed to take advantage of all the light the area has to offer. Window design and layout is something we take pride in here at Signature Custom Homes. Some areas we love; the wine rack in the dining room, flat panel cabinets, waterfall quartz countertops, stainless steel appliances, and tiger hardwood flooring.

Blending contemporary and historic styles requires innovative design and a well-balanced aesthetic. That was the challenge we faced in creating a modern kitchen for this historic home in Lynnfield, MA. The final design retained the classically beautiful spatial and structural elements of the home while introducing a sleek sophistication. We mixed the two design palettes carefully. For instance, juxtaposing the warm, distressed wood of an original door with the smooth, brightness of non-paneled, maple cabinetry. A cork floor and accent cabinets of white metal add texture while a seated, step-down peninsula and built in bookcase create an open transition from the kitchen proper to an inviting dining space. This is truly a space where the past and present can coexist harmoniously.

I was sad that I was unable to use my expansive pot rack in the alloted space as it was too bulky. Dan promised me he would build me a compact one out of copper to match our handles and sink. He designed it and our teammember, Shannon, made it out of copper plumbing with no prior experience. I am proud of her!
The kitchen pantry continues the white and black style of the main kitchen. A cork board is conveniently located on the wall for sticking shopping lists and calendars on while the pantry sink allows for kitchen prep or flower arranging without making a mess in the main kitchen. The pantry also houses an under-counter wine fridge and extra pantry and dish storage. Special design details to note are the wood counter top and marble back-splash another fun design detail are the cabinet sconces located on the cabinet crown.
