Contemporary Warmth: Highland Park Residence
Contemporary Warmth: Highland Park Residence
Carolina V. Gentry, RIDCarolina V. Gentry, RID
This forever home, perfect for entertaining and designed with a place for everything, is a contemporary residence that exudes warmth, functional style, and lifestyle personalization for a family of five. Our busy lawyer couple, with three close-knit children, had recently purchased a home that was modern on the outside, but dated on the inside. They loved the feel, but knew it needed a major overhaul. Being incredibly busy and having never taken on a renovation of this scale, they knew they needed help to make this space their own. Upon a previous client referral, they called on Pulp to make their dreams a reality. Then ensued a down to the studs renovation, moving walls and some stairs, resulting in dramatic results. Beth and Carolina layered in warmth and style throughout, striking a hard-to-achieve balance of livable and contemporary. The result is a well-lived in and stylish home designed for every member of the family, where memories are made daily.

What could be more fun than a slide in your bedroom? This playful room was designed for two imaginative little girls, ages two and four. Everything from the slide bunk beds, princess castle canopy, tea party area, and child sized sofa was designed with these two beauties in mind. We striped some of the walls in a green-yellow while wallpapering the others in an Osborne & Little wallpaper. Laney designed a custom chalkboard with scalloped edges and custom window treatments that frame the window seat and closet. Nothing was left to chance including the ceiling which features a ribbon mural over the princess tower!

ROOM FOR 8 We created a space for the client's 8 grandchildren could sleep in one room and still have room to play. Each of the bunk beds has a trundle and on the right is a sofa from Resource Furniture that reconfigures to a bunk bed. The draperies from Clarencehouse and the rug from Edward Fields create the feel of being in an aquarium.(ish) David O. Marlow

This teen bedroom has plenty of space to sleep, study or chill. The room reflects the resident's love for baseball and incorporates industrial accents and furniture to give it a more grown-up feel. The room offers lighting options overhead with a baseball light fixture, reading lamps on the desk, a lamp above the couch or a little ambiance lighting from the wall-mounted arrow. Your little girl is growing up and on her way to High School. All sorts of things for her to consider; classes, teachers, planning her future, sports, clubs, clothes, friends, boys – everything seems to be hitting her all at once. Her bedroom can and should be her sanctuary. Here she can forget all of the worries of high school but still have a place to hang out with friends, long talks with Mom and Dad, get her homework done, find that awesome necklace and earrings. The perfect place for everything and everything in its place
