Light House Studio have undertaken a two-storey side extension, replacement single storey rear extension and internal re-planning to an existing property in Hove. Situated on a tight urban site, a poorly constructed porch and detached garage will be demolished to allow modernisation and reconfiguration of the property. Set back from the original property the design took its influence from the proportions and materials of the existing site and context. The project includes suitable internal reconfigurations of the property but also respects the building's heritage. The features of the existing building influenced the design of the building but the intension is that the extension will be built to 21st century standards and allow suitable internal changes. Details such as a bee brick and swift box are also important ecological features to be incorporated. Externally, the two-storey extension has a subservient appearance and all proposed exterior materials match the existing elevations. The proposed windows will match the proportions of the existing windows.
