How to decorate a Christmas Mantle!
Here is the family room Christmas Mantle in my home that I have decorated in a traditional fashion, in keeping with my room decor. It is easy to decorate your mantle yourself. First put some fabric on your mantle to protect it from getting scratched - I used gold fabric. Then purchase 2 green garlands, join them together and place them on the mantle. Then purchase several large enhancers - I used 4 glittered fruit enhancers of a combination of red apples, yellow and light green pears and light green leaves - to decorate the garland. FYI an enhancer is an ornament or series of ornaments and ribbons, that can be used together and are much easier to use than individual ornaments by themselves. Light green is a very popular color this year! I then further garnished the mantle with large pine cones, gold glitter balls and red and gold poinsettias. To keep the garland from falling off the mantle, I used a pair of nutcrackers to secure the decorations in place. Another excellent touch is having some of the decorations hang down below the mantle shelf, so it all looks natural and not orchestrated or totally symmetrical.
