In the peaceful village of Warnham, West Sussex, bathroom designer George Harvey has created a fantastic Victorian style bathroom space, playing homage to this characterful house.
Making the most of present-day, Victorian Style bathroom furnishings was the brief for this project, with this client opting to maintain the theme of the house throughout this bathroom space. The design of this project is minimal with white and black used throughout to build on this theme, with present day technologies and innovation used to give the client a well-functioning bathroom space.
To create this space designer George has used bathroom suppliers Burlington and Crosswater, with traditional options from each utilised to bring the classic black and white contrast desired by the client. In an additional modern twist, a HiB illuminating mirror has been included – incorporating a present-day innovation into this timeless bathroom space.
Bathroom Accessories
One of the key design elements of this project is the contrast between black and white and balancing this delicately throughout the bathroom space. With the client not opting for any bathroom furniture space, George has done well to incorporate traditional Victorian accessories across the room. Repositioned and refitted by our installation team, this client has re-used their own bath for this space as it not only suits this space to a tee but fits perfectly as a focal centrepiece to this bathroom.
A generously sized Crosswater Clear6 shower enclosure has been fitted in the corner of this bathroom, with a sliding door mechanism used for access and Crosswater’s Matt Black frame option utilised in a contemporary Victorian twist. Distinctive Burlington ceramics have been used in the form of pedestal sink and close coupled W/C, bringing a traditional element to these essential bathroom pieces.
Bathroom Features
Traditional Burlington Brassware features everywhere in this bathroom, either in the form of the Walnut finished Kensington range or Chrome and Black Trent brassware. Walnut pillar taps, bath filler and handset bring warmth to the space with Chrome and Black shower valve and handset contributing to the Victorian feel of this space. Above the basin area sits a modern HiB Solstice mirror with integrated demisting technology, ambient lighting and customisable illumination. This HiB mirror also nicely balances a modern inclusion with the traditional space through the selection of a Matt Black finish.
Along with the bathroom fitting, plumbing and electrics, our installation team also undertook a full tiling of this bathroom space. Gloss White wall tiles have been used as a base for Victorian features while the floor makes decorative use of Black and White Petal patterned tiling with an in keeping black border tile. As part of the installation our team have also concealed all pipework for a minimal feel.

Cleary Bathroom DesignThis family bathroom holds atmosphere and warmth created using different textures, ambient and feature lighting. Not only is it beautiful space but also quite functional. The shower hand hose was made long enough for our client to clean the bath area. A glass panel contains the wet-room area and also leaves the length of the room uninterrupted.

Mountainwood HomesThe Jack and Jill bathroom received the most extensive remodel transformation. We first selected a graphic floor tile by Arizona Tile in the design process, and then the bathroom vanity color Artichoke by Sherwin-Williams (SW #6179) correlated to the tile. Our client proposed installing a stained tongue and groove behind the vanity. Now the gold decorative mirror pops off the textured wall.
Amy Shirlaw InteriorsA small but fully equipped bathroom with a warm, bluish green on the walls and ceiling. Geometric tile patterns are balanced out with plants and pale wood to keep a natural feel in the space.
Living InteriorsNaval inspiration - Navy & white stripe is repeated in the shower curtain, box & laundry basket. The daring use of navy paint on the ceiling gives a sense of underwater worlds.
Wirkkala WoodworksWIRKKALA WOODWORKS (949) 633 4018 Created this great farmhouse bathtoom, featuring vintage styles but with all the modern convenience of being fresh out of the design center. Antique black Newport Brass fixtures. Counter to ceiling storage really makes the design and creates far more storage than this size bathroom ever holds! Kohler toilet with top deck flush. Vintage octagon floor tiles. Extra girth crown and base. Soft close hinges on drawers and cabinet drawers. All custom cabinetry.
Studio MilneThe family bathroom in my Loughton project was an awkward, long, and narrow space, so needed clever design and compact sanitaryware to fit everything in.
The floor and wall tiles are Mandarin Stone Terrazzo Nouveau, a porcelain tiles which still has colour and flecks running throughout, so no need for a tile trim.
The white bath is by Bette, white basin is by Lusso Stone, taps and showerhead are by Hansgroche. The black circular bathroom mirror is by Cielo and wall light is by SCP.
Mountainwood HomesThis tiled shower niche used 2 tiles to create a pop in the niche. The back of the shower niche is from Arizona Tile Shibusa in Basketweave and the sides are from Arizona Tile Shibusa.

CBKI were been commissioned to undertake the complete refurbishment of a large bathroom space. The introduction of a freestanding bath, walk-in shower, double basins and integrated cabinetry make this a fabulous space to enjoy.
All of the trade activities were coordinated by the Installation Manager to ensure that each stage of the refurbishment happened in a timely manner to expedite completion of the refurbishment project.

You want to consider the storage they offer while also making sure they make an attractive feature as you enter your bathroom. Don’t forget you need them to be durable and withstand the damp conditions, e.g. if you’re going for a painted cabinet make sure the paint is suitable for baths. For medicine cabinets you will find most have mirrored fronts, but you can find extra features such as clocks and shaving sockets built-in.What bathroom storage ideas should I look at?
While bathroom storage ideas is not the first thing you think of when it comes to bathrooms, you’ll be surprised at how much difference it makes when your bathroom is organised – specially if you’re dealing with a small bathroom, this is essential. And where to put the cotton buds, painkillers, plasters, other medicine, creams and sanitary products? That’s not even considering using your bathroom as a place to store your towels and bathrobes. The first thing to consider when reviewing bathroom ideas is if you can invest in built-in bathroom storage. Large vanity units will have drawers and compartments to store a great number of toiletries and bathroom necessities, and if your bathroom or cloakroom has room for a built-in cupboard you can start storing small accessories and larger items there. After you’ve made sure your light fittings are safe and to-code, you can consider the type and style you’d like as your working through your bathroom ideas. Recessed shelves can make a huge difference both visually and practically to small bathrooms, so if you are able to have these installed when your walls are being renovated you could add some to your shower or sink area. You could choose pale colours and iridescent tiles that reflect the light, keep walls and ceilings the same colour and texture, and use complementary shades throughout the bathroom– fewer contrasts and transitions will help maintain the sense of space. Floating bathroom units also draw the eye to visible floor space underneath them, and clear glass shower screens will keep the room feeling open and airy. Finishing touches like artfully placed large mirrors will also make small bathrooms appear more expansive.2
