With a busy working lifestyle and two small children, Burlanes worked closely with the home owners to transform a number of rooms in their home, to not only suit the needs of family life, but to give the wonderful building a new lease of life, whilst in keeping with the stunning historical features and characteristics of the incredible Oast House.

The new family bathroom was extended into the landing and by knocking down the dividing wall between the toilet and bathroom to give more space and comfort in the bathroom. The colour scheme was simple and light in complete contrast to the dark tiny rooms of the original layout. The tiles are taken from the Nature collection from CTD. A simple square design was used on the window film to provide privacy but allowing light to flow in. The bath is wide which is really comfortable for showering and still allows for a lovely bath. Renovation of a classic Minneapolis bungalow included this family bathroom. An adjacent closet was converted to a walk-in glass shower and small sinks allowed room for two vanities. The mirrored wall and simple palette helps make the room feel larger. Playful accents like cow head towel hooks from CB2 and custom children's step stools add interest and function to this bathroom. The hexagon floor tile was selected to be in keeping with the original 1920's era of the home. This bathroom used to be tiny and was the only bathroom on the 2nd floor. We chose to spend the budget on making a very functional family bathroom now and add a master bathroom when the children get bigger. Uncluttering the limited floor space in this bathroom was a game changer in allowing the feeling of space to come through...no one likes to feel claustrophobic in their bathroom. Larger format tiles also adds to this ambience and gives this bathroom the contrast that it needs against the white tiled walls and wood accents.

The David Hockney 1978 art piece Swimming Pool with Reflection inspired this California-cool bathroom. Watery-blue glass mosaic tile spills down the shower wall and out onto the concrete-gray tile floor in puddles. The custom back-painted glass vanity floats on the blue walls and is anchored by a chrome Kohler faucet, adding a modern sophistication to this fun space perfect for a young boy. A small but fully equipped bathroom with a warm, bluish green on the walls and ceiling. Geometric tile patterns are balanced out with plants and pale wood to keep a natural feel in the space.

Builder: J. Peterson Homes Interior Design: Vision Interiors by Visbeen Photographer: Ashley Avila Photography The best of the past and present meet in this distinguished design. Custom craftsmanship and distinctive detailing give this lakefront residence its vintage flavor while an open and light-filled floor plan clearly mark it as contemporary. Nearby is a private sitting room and a 14 by 15-foot master bedroom with built-ins and a spa-style double-sink bath with a beautiful barrel-vaulted ceiling. The main level also includes a work room and first floor laundry, while the 2,165-square-foot second level includes three bedroom suites, a loft and a separate 966-square-foot guest quarters with private living area, kitchen and bedroom.
