Ann Lowengart InteriorsThe family living in this shingled roofed home on the Peninsula loves color and pattern. At the heart of the two-story house, we created a library with high gloss lapis blue walls. The tête-à-tête provides an inviting place for the couple to read while their children play games at the antique card table. As a counterpoint, the open planned family, dining room, and kitchen have white walls. We selected a deep aubergine for the kitchen cabinetry. In the tranquil master suite, we layered celadon and sky blue while the daughters' room features pink, purple, and citrine.
Bath + KitchenThis is one of three bathrooms completed in this home. A hall bathroom upstairs, once served as the "Kids' Bath". Polished marble and glass tile gives this space a luxurious, high-end feel, while maintaining a warm and inviting, spa-like atmosphere. Mabbott Seidel ArchitectureA cookie cutter developer three bedroom duplex was transformed into a four bedroom family friendly home complete with fine details and custom millwork. A home office, artist studio and even a full laundry room were added through a better use of space. Additionally, transoms were added to improve light and air circulation.
Instead of providing separate bedrooms for the two young children, we designed a single large bedroom with a sliding wall of Douglas fir. Half of the space can be configured as a playroom, with the children sleeping on the other side. The playroom can also function as a guest room.
