This family bathroom is small so we opted for contrasting tiles to create the impression of space. The tiled bath has an overhead shower to maximise its usage for the whole family. The floor tiles continue half up the wall to blur the edges and conceal the toilet cistern.

This is a black-and-white bathroom at a Brooklyn brownstone project of ours. Its centerpiece is a large, wall-mounted utility sink. The floor has mosaic marble tile, and the walls have white subway tile with accents of black tile.

A four bedroom, two bathroom functional design that wraps around a central courtyard. This home embraces Mother Nature's natural light as much as possible. Whatever the season the sun has been embraced in the solar passive home, from the strategically placed north face openings directing light to the thermal mass exposed concrete slab, to the clerestory windows harnessing the sun into the exposed feature brick wall. Feature brickwork and concrete flooring flow from the interior to the exterior, marrying together to create a seamless connection. Rooftop gardens, thoughtful landscaping and cascading plants surrounding the alfresco and balcony further blurs this indoor/outdoor line. Designer: Dalecki Design Photographer: Dion Robeson

This narrow compact bathroom was visually expanded by building a half wall at the end of the tub and using glass panel and doors to let you see the space's full width. Hexagonal floor tiles were also used in the shampoo niche and above the vanity, around the recessed medicine cabinet. Jennifer Lozada
