Expansive Midcentury Home Design Photos

This project was a dream mid-century beach house retreat on the North coast near Padstow.
The client, who is based in London, appointed us to design and project manage the full renovation of this 5-bedroom home away from home. The double-height pitched living space at the centre of the house was once the site of a hotel swimming pool.
It was generous in scale, with panoramic views over the landscape and gave us the opportunity to create five different zones including a large open plan kitchen, dining table for 10, relaxed family lounge area and two dedicated cocktail / evening seating areas.
The palette has a suitably earthy tone with natural timbers, stunning quartz worktops, bespoke metalwork, fluted timber screens, and a central feature log-burning fireplace. We were involved in the project from concept to completion including styling the interior and hand-selecting bespoke artworks and ceramics to add the final finishing flourishes.
A perfect holiday home for relaxation and entertaining!

It's sophisticated and stylish, with a sleek and contemporary feel that's perfect for entertaining. The clean lines and monochromatic colour palette enhance the minimalist vibe, while the carefully chosen details add just the right amount of glam.

Here is an architecturally built house from the early 1970's which was brought into the new century during this complete home remodel by adding a garage space, new windows triple pane tilt and turn windows, cedar double front doors, clear cedar siding with clear cedar natural siding accents, clear cedar garage doors, galvanized over sized gutters with chain style downspouts, standing seam metal roof, re-purposed arbor/pergola, professionally landscaped yard, and stained concrete driveway, walkways, and steps.

This walnut screen wall seperates the guest wing from the public areas of the house. Adds a lot of personality without being distracting or busy.

After completing an interior remodel for this mid-century home in the South Salem hills, we revived the old, rundown backyard and transformed it into an outdoor living room that reflects the openness of the new interior living space. We tied the outside and inside together to create a cohesive connection between the two. The yard was spread out with multiple elevations and tiers, which we used to create “outdoor rooms” with separate seating, eating and gardening areas that flowed seamlessly from one to another. We installed a fire pit in the seating area; built-in pizza oven, wok and bar-b-que in the outdoor kitchen; and a soaking tub on the lower deck. The concrete dining table doubled as a ping-pong table and required a boom truck to lift the pieces over the house and into the backyard. The result is an outdoor sanctuary the homeowners can effortlessly enjoy year-round.

The kitchen features cabinets from Grabill Cabinets in their frameless “Mode” door style in a “Blanco” matte finish. The kitchen island back, coffee bar and floating shelves are also from Grabill Cabinets on Walnut in their “Allspice” finish. The stunning countertops and full slab backsplash are Brittanica quartz from Cambria. The Miele built-in coffee system, steam oven, wall oven, warming drawer, gas range, paneled built-in refrigerator and paneled dishwasher perfectly complement the clean lines of the cabinetry. The Marvel paneled ice machine and paneled wine storage system keep this space ready for entertaining at a moment’s notice.

The original kitchen in this 1968 Lakewood home was cramped and dark. The new homeowners wanted an open layout with a clean, modern look that was warm rather than sterile. This was accomplished with custom cabinets, waterfall-edge countertops and stunning light fixtures.
