Foundation plantings should be layered and have enough variety to create year-round interest. Here, we used a blue spruce on the corner of the house to "anchor" the landscape and increase a sense of human scale, evergreen laurels to act as a background color, and a mix of lavender, shasta daisies, and spirea to give color.
