From their front porches to their brightly colored outbuildings, these graceful homes - clustered among walking paths, private docks, and parkland - nod to the Amish countryside in which they're sited. Their nostalgic appeal is complemented by open floor plans, exposed beam ceilings, and custom millwork, melding the charms of yesteryear with the character and conveniences demanded by today's discerning home buyers.

Shaded Living Orangery, Oxfordshire
Shaded Living Orangery, Oxfordshire
David SalisburyDavid Salisbury
This painted timber orangery in the heart of the Oxfordshire countryside replaced an existing, smaller conservatory and instantly brought the outside closer to the inside of the home. With views and a garden like this, it is easy to see the inspiration for this home improvement project. The orangery featured bi-fold doors which are an increasingly popular alternative to French Doors and help provide that feeling of inside/outside living that remains sought after. With the doors fully retracted, the indoor space simply flows into the outdoors. The additional floor area created has allowed plenty of space for a selection of comfortable, relaxing furniture - ideal for today's modern living. Traditional French Pinoleum blinds were chosen and specified in a bespoke colour to complement the Corn White paint finish of the orangery. French Pinoleum Blinds particularly suit an extension such as an orangery or garden room. The new orangery now forms a favourite living space at home, a room to savour whatever the time of day. That's always our aim here at David Salisbury: we create award-winning orangeries and garden rooms for you to enjoy.
