The clients wanted a bold and unique kitchen design, to contrast and complement the ornate cornicing and detailed Victorian stained glass window. The design includes two-toned cabinetry in complementary colours and a discrete built in fridge freezer and utility cupboard sitting flush with a wall for maximum storage.

This project included the complete refurbishment of the kitchen/dining room and downstairs cloakroom. A new kitchen was designed in collaboration with Kitchen Architecture. I complemented this with the design of a new lighting and colour scheme for the space and sourced new furniture including vintage bentwood chairs, bespoke upholstered dining chairs, soft furnishings, accessories, window treatments and flooring. The kitchen project was shortlisted for the International Design and Architecture Awards 2020.

The Stacked Brick Extension is a ground floor wrap around extension to a small Victorian terraced house in Stoke Newington. The original house had an odd layout, with the main bathroom on the ground floor at the back of the kitchen and no bathroom on the first floor. The ceiling height was very low on the ground floor creating a very unwelcoming kitchen and there was no connection with the garden. The extension creates a sociable open plan kitchen diner with sliding doors opening onto a new patio. We lowered the floor to create better ceiling height in the kitchen and opened up the pitched roof internally to create even more volume and define the dining space. The extension is constructed from a pale yellow brick to complement the traditional yellow stock brick of the original house, but lend a more contemporary feel. The bricks are stack bonded to create a geometric pattern. The garden and patio are all constructed form the same brickwork which helps the spaces flow together and gives a greater sense of space and continuity in the small garden. Internally a simple palette of materials includes exposed Ash rafters, Birch face plywood to form a dining room bench, dark green kitchen cabinets and grey floor tiles.

This kitchen was initially a U shape separate room off the corridor. It was dark and isolated from the rest of the apartment. We decided to knock down the walls separating it from the living area and design this small but stunning and practical kitchen.

The Myers TouchThe Myers Touch
The layout follows a wide L shape with a central island which is wide enough to house both the hob and the sink. The Miele induction hob includes an integrated extraction which allows the client a seamless view across the island and out to their wonderful farmland vista. A Neolith Bromo worktop provides both beauty and durability, making use and cleaning of this kitchen a dream. Hidden within a bank of tall cabinetry lies a large walk-in larder space, perfect for storage of everyday items, or for keeping pre-made party food a secret! The dark SieMatic cabinets in Onyx oak laminate create drama and visual strength in this large open-plan space, whilst a soft sterling grey finish was chosen for the island and console cabinets to bring warmth and light into the central area.
