Location: Nantucket, MA, USA This classic Nantucket home had not been renovated in several decades and was in serious need of an update. The vision for this summer home was to be a beautiful, light and peaceful family retreat with the ability to entertain guests and extended family. The focal point of the kitchen is the La Canche Chagny Range in Faience with custom hood to match. We love how the tile backsplash on the Prep Sink wall pulls it all together and picks up on the spectacular colors in the White Princess Quartzite countertops. In a nod to traditional Nantucket Craftsmanship, we used Shiplap Panelling on many of the walls including in the Kitchen and Powder Room. We hope you enjoy the quiet and tranquil mood of these images as much as we loved creating this space. Keep your eye out for additional images as we finish up Phase II of this amazing project! This is a pool house that opens up to an outdoor living space. Large porcelain tiles are inlaid with mosaic glass tiles. The furniture is all indoor - outdoor quality with durable fabric. The cabinets are painted gray with glass door cabinets. The kitchenette includes sink, under counter two drawer refrigerator, two drawer dishwasher and ice maker and built in microwave.

The upper cabinets above the wet bar were removed and replaced with these contemporary stainless steel-framed cabinets and shelves. The l.e.d. lighting helps to accent the new, fresh tile.

This project was an especially fun one for me and was the first of many with these amazing clients. The original space did not make sense with the homes style and definitely not with the homeowners personalities. So the goal was to brighten it up, make it into an entertaining kitchen as the main kitchen is in another of the house and make it feel like it was always supposed to be there. The space was slightly expanded giving a little more working space and allowing some room for the gorgeous Walnut bar top by Grothouse Lumber, which if you look closely resembles a shark,t he homeowner is an avid diver so this was fate. We continued with water tones in the wavy glass subway tile backsplash and fusion granite countertops, kept the custom WoodMode cabinet white with a slight distressing for some character and grounded the space a little with some darker elements found in the floating shelving and slate farmhouse sink. We also remodeled a pantry in the same style cabinetry and created a whole different feel by switching up the backsplash to a deeper blue. Being just off the main kitchen and close to outdoor entertaining it also needed to be functional and beautiful, wine storage and an ice maker were added to make entertaining a dream. Along with tons of storage to keep everything in its place. The before and afters are amazing and the new spaces fit perfectly within the home and with the homeowners.

Coastal Home Bar with Raised-panel Cabinets Ideas and Designs

A home bar is one of the ultimate indulgences for a homeowner. By no means essential but all the more satisfying for that very reason. Whether your home bar ideas would be having the boys round to watch the big match in a pub-style atmosphere on a Saturday afternoon, ‘going uptown’ to sip an espresso martini in your home cocktail bar in the loft, or hoping to recreate the vibe of an intimate speakeasy in your basement, a coastal style home bar is a treat that’s guaranteed to lift your spirits. A place where you are always guaranteed a seat.

How big should my nautical home bar be?

The ideal style of your beach style home bar will depend on your lifestyle and entertaining habits as well as the amount of available space. If big groups come round regularly then you should consider dedicating a part of your living room or basement to a larger seating area – complete with a bar table, bar stools and wet bar section – to keep everyone suitably comfortable and merry. If TV is essential, check if there is a wall nearby that’s a big enough to mount it on without restricting anyone’s view. A key feature of home bar ideas is the storage – gleaming wine racks and low-lit glass shelves. Make sure you can afford these little delights after you have built the basic structure. Alternatively, if space is limited, a freestanding coastal home cocktail bar would give you somewhere to prepare cocktails that is out of the way – in the corner of your dining room or under the stairwell for instance. Also, mirrored surfaces can help to create the illusion of space. Sketch the layout of the room in which you would like to place the bar and think about where all those bottles, cans and snacks are going to go. Then speak to either a home bar specialist about your home bar ideas, or to a joiner about adapting a vintage bookcase or creating something bespoke.

What style of home bar should I choose?

Try to play off the interior decor of the surrounding area. A kitsch Manhattan-inspired home cocktail bar will look out of place in a country cottage, for example. That said, contrast might be something that you accentuate, not least through the choice of flooring, which would help to make your home bar stand out. Add a touch of glitz and glamour through your choice of glassware, drinks trolley, ice bucket, shaker and spirit bottles if you want the home cocktail bar look. Then scatter a few curios around the bar – coastal ornaments, lamps, artwork, photos and travel mementos are great coastal home bar ideas to get the conversation started.
