A small stone patio with fire pit sits next to the water. The stone walkway is carefully used to tie the garden to the residence across the street. This is a unique seaside, low maintenance garden. Drought resistant and salt friendly plantings were used throughout. This garden has become the focus of the neighborhood with many visitors stopping and enjoying what has become a neighborhood landmark. Located on the shores of Puget Sound in Washington State. Large monolithic architectural details are something we try and bring into all our projects, it’s these details that allow us to be looser with wilder with our planting palettes and for the outcome to still feel considered. In this case, the benches allowed us to terrace the site creating activated zones to higher use of the functionality. Photography by Derek Swalwell

The grey stone of porch floor with the crisp white columns, white siding, white trim, and monochromatic plants have a light bright fresh feel. The casual elegance of the landscaping along the front of the home, bluestone slab pavers with grass strips, and gray planters with light and dark green plants welcome guests along the walkway & up the few steps to the bluestone front porch with white siding. The lime hydrangeas, shrubs with two toned leaves, and white flowers are bright and cheerful.
