This client had an existing wall of cabinets that he wanted to integrate into a new bar in the basement of his home. However, he did not want to do the same color cabinetry all around the space. So we had all the new cabinetry made in cherry with a Shale Truetone and pewter glaze. Then to make the existing cabinetry tie in, we had the Chicago Bar rail top make and stained to the shade of the existing cabinetry. With all the detail work that Vince from Still Waters did, this came out perfectly!

This Avon basement located on Cleveland's West side has been transformed in to a fully functional space which includes a bedroom, plenty of closet space, a full bathroom, full bar, and TV/sitting area. The bedroom features a spacious walk-in closet and entry to the full bathroom. The large basement area has been finished with plenty of built-in cabinetry, which surrounds the wall mounted TV. The highlight of this finished basement is the full bar area. The Honey Onyx lit bar countertop is a feature that will immediately catch your eye. Along with dark cabinetry and granite countertops, this bar has been fully equipped with 2 wine coolers, a mini fridge, ice maker, dishwasher, and sink.

RAISING TH BAR. The project started with tearing out the existing flooring and crown molding (thin plank, oak flooring and carpet combo that did not fit with their personal style) and adding in this beautiful wide plank espresso colored hardwood to create a more modern, updated look. Next, a shelf to display the liquor collection and a bar high enough to fit their kegerator within. The bar is loaded with all the amenities: tall bar tops, bar seating, open display shelving and feature lighting. Pretty much the perfect place to entertain and celebrate the weekends. A place where you are always guaranteed a seat.

How big should my home bar be?

The ideal style of your home bar will depend on your lifestyle and entertaining habits as well as the amount of available space. If big groups come round regularly then you should consider dedicating a part of your living room or basement to a larger seating area – complete with a bar table, bar stools and wet bar section – to keep everyone suitably comfortable and merry. If TV is essential, check if there is a wall nearby that’s a big enough to mount it on without restricting anyone’s view.
