The three bedroom, Craftsman bungalow was originally built with only one bathroom, which is typical for the era. The challenge was to find space without compromising the existing storage in the home. It was achieved by claiming the closet areas between two bedrooms, increasing the original 29" depth and expanding into the larger of the two bedrooms. The result was a compact, yet efficient bathroom. Classic finishes are respectful of the vernacular and time period of the home.

Christa Pirl InteriorsAn original turn-of-the-century Craftsman home had lost it original charm in the kitchen and bathroom, both renovated in the 1980s. The clients desired to restore the original look, while still giving the spaces an updated feel. Both rooms were gutted and new materials, fittings and appliances were installed, creating a strong reference to the history of the home, while still moving the house into the 21st century.

Design First InteriorsThe ensuite bath, a place to rejuvenate, relax and enjoy the ritual of personal care. Here is a bathroom that provides all of the functionality with an impressive selection of fixtures and finishes.
This ensuite bath was designed with obsessive attentive to detail, especially in the tilework. Note how the Corian edging of the countertops and tub deck has the same profile as the marble border tile. The height of the border tile was determined by the height of cabinets adjacent to the sink. This border caps the continuous wainscot tile that surrounds the room. The cabinet toe kick is also continuous and set out flush with the tile and cabinets. The coffered ceiling pattern is reflected in the tile border on the floor.
Sandy Schargel InteriorsThe wall in the entry hall is now beautifully done in a Venetian finish - red was selected as an accent wall to compliment the touches of red in the living room. New wall sconces were selected (Houzz); the art - which was previously over the fireplace in his former home - was placed on the wall. The bench cushion was reupholstered and pillows were placed on the bench to soften the look. A lovely introduction to his special home.
