What’s the next best thing to a tropical vacation in the middle of a Chicago winter? Well, how about a tropical themed bath that works year round? The goal of this bath was just that, to bring some fun, whimsy and tropical vibes!
We started out by making some updates to the built in bookcase leading into the bath. It got an easy update by removing all the stained trim and creating a simple arched opening with a few floating shelves for a much cleaner and up-to-date look. We love the simplicity of this arch in the space.
Now, into the bathroom design. Our client fell in love with this beautiful handmade tile featuring tropical birds and flowers and featuring bright, vibrant colors. We played off the tile to come up with the pallet for the rest of the space. The cabinetry and trim is a custom teal-blue paint that perfectly picks up on the blue in the tile. The gold hardware, lighting and mirror also coordinate with the colors in the tile.
Because the house is a 1930’s tudor, we played homage to that by using a simple black and white hex pattern on the floor and retro style hardware that keep the whole space feeling vintage appropriate. We chose a wall mount unpolished brass hardware faucet which almost gives the feel of a tropical fountain. It just works. The arched mirror continues the arch theme from the bookcase.
For the shower, we chose a coordinating antique white tile with the same tropical tile featured in a shampoo niche where we carefully worked to get a little bird almost standing on the niche itself. We carried the gold fixtures into the shower, and instead of a shower door, the shower features a simple hinged glass panel that is easy to clean and allows for easy access to the shower controls.

Cyr Kitchen and BathThis bathroom remodel was designed by Nicole from our Windham showroom. This remodel features Cabico Essence cabinets with maple wood, Stretto door style (flat panel) and Bonavista (blue paint) finish. This remodel also features LG viatera Quartz countertop with Rococo color and standard edge. This also was used for shelves in the shower. The floor and shower walls is 12” x 24” by Mediterranean with Marmol Venatino color in honed. The shampoo niche is also in the same tile and color but in 2” x 2” size in honed. Other features includes Maax tub in white, Moen chrome faucet, Kohler Caxton white sink, Moen Chrome Showerhead, Moen Chrome Valve Trim, Moen Flara Chrome light fixture, Moen chrome Towel Ring, and Moen chrome double robe hook. The hardware is by Amerock with Chrome Handles and Knobs.
McCutcheon Construction Inc.The renewed guest bathroom was given a new attitude with the addition of Moroccan tile and a vibrant blue color.

Chi Renovation & DesignWhen our client shared their vision for their two-bathroom remodel in Uptown, they expressed a desire for a spa-like experience with a masculine vibe. So we set out to create a space that embodies both relaxation and masculinity.
Allow us to introduce this masculine master bathroom—a stunning fusion of functionality and sophistication. Enter through pocket doors into a walk-in closet, seamlessly connecting to the muscular allure of the bathroom.
The boldness of the design is evident in the choice of Blue Naval cabinets adorned with exquisite Brushed Gold hardware, embodying a luxurious yet robust aesthetic. Highlighting the shower area, the Newbev Triangles Dusk tile graces the walls, imparting modern elegance.
Complementing the ambiance, the Olivia Wall Sconce Vanity Lighting adds refined glamour, casting a warm glow that enhances the space's inviting atmosphere. Every element harmonizes, creating a master bathroom that exudes both strength and sophistication, inviting indulgence and relaxation. Additionally, we discreetly incorporated hidden washer and dryer units for added convenience.

Choosing all white elements will obviously tie everything together, but also think about the style you’re going for – ultra modern taps will clash with traditional Victorian-style wash basins. And it’s probably good to consider your flooring or surfaces, and walls to make sure everything will complement. When it comes to flooring, tiles will be durable, easy to clean and deal well with water, but if you want something different you could go with modern concrete, traditional or country-style treated wooden floorboards, or a bit more quirky bamboo, cork or vinyl. The best small bathroom ideas will maximise the space you have. From installing a bidet to simple decorative tips there are plenty of things you can do to make it look bigger. Recessed shelves can make a huge difference both visually and practically to small bathrooms, so if you are able to have these installed when your walls are being renovated you could add some to your shower or sink area. You could choose pale colours and iridescent tiles that reflect the light, keep walls and ceilings the same colour and texture, and use complementary shades throughout the bathroom– fewer contrasts and transitions will help maintain the sense of space. Floating bathroom units also draw the eye to visible floor space underneath them, and clear glass shower screens will keep the room feeling open and airy.
