Almost always, and in this case, I do my best to draw out the creativity of my clients, even when they think that they are not creative. This house is a perfect example of that with much of the client's vision and culture infused into the house.
Fänas ArchitectureResidence near Boulder, CO. Designed about a 200 year old timber frame structure, dismantled and relocated from an old Pennsylvania barn. Most materials within the home are reclaimed or recycled. French country master bathroom with custom dark wood vanities.

Landmark Construction CrewBathroom of this new home construction included the installation of white finished cabinets and shelves, tiled flooring, sink and faucet and bathroom countertop.
House of LA master bath gets reinvented into a luxurious spa-like retreat in tranquil shades of aqua blue, crisp whites and rich bittersweet chocolate browns. A mix of materials including glass tiles, smooth riverstone rocks, honed granite and practical porcelain create a great textural palette that is soothing and inviting. The symmetrical vanities were anchored on the wall to make the floorplan feel more open and the clever use of space under the sink maximizes cabinet space. Oversize La Cava vessels perfectly balance the vanity tops and bright chrome accents in the plumbing components and vanity hardware adds just enough of a sparkle. Photo by Pete Maric.
Jameson Design GroupThe original structure of this hall bathroom was complicated and narrow, with very little storage. We were able to re-use existing locations for the tub/shower and toilet, but bumped back the wall for the vanity to increase the cabinet depth. The vanity design is notched with custom shallow depth drawers, so that the door can fully open with ease.
For finishes, we went for timeless and classic tile selections (white subway with black and white hexagon floor), and bold black on the vanity (featuring a black soapstone top. Crystal cabinet knobs tie in beautifully with the crystal door knobs throughout the home.

You want to consider the storage they offer while also making sure they make an attractive feature as you enter your bathroom. Don’t forget you need them to be durable and withstand the damp conditions, e.g. if you’re going for a painted cabinet make sure the paint is suitable for baths. There are actually regulations around what type of light fittings you can use and where – IP67 rating lights for submerged areas e.g. inside baths and sinks (Zone 0); IP65 for any area above a shower or bath (Zone 1); and IP44 rating for anything 0.6m from a bath or basin (Zone 2). After you’ve made sure your light fittings are safe and to-code, you can consider the type and style you’d like as your working through your bathroom ideas. The great thing is that both floor tiles and wall tiles come in a huge variety of sizes, styles, colours and patterns, so you can remodel your room completely with whatever tile choices fit with your bathroom ideas. When it comes to flooring, tiles will be durable, easy to clean and deal well with water, but if you want something different you could go with modern concrete, traditional or country-style treated wooden floorboards, or a bit more quirky bamboo, cork or vinyl. You could choose pale colours and iridescent tiles that reflect the light, keep walls and ceilings the same colour and texture, and use complementary shades throughout the bathroom– fewer contrasts and transitions will help maintain the sense of space.
