I have a wild hedgerow bordering my garden. I found I get far more butterflies if I leave nettles and brambles for their larvae to feed on and these two plants make an effective barrier against intruders. I planted lots of native wildflowers into the hedgerow to make it more beautiful. It is a haven for birds and bees as well. Two weeds I don't tolerate are hemlock water dropwort (looks edible but deadly poisonous) and giant hogweed (burns the skin).

I live in the middle of a National Park in Australia and the previous owners have planted agapanthus which have gone wild and it is creeping towards the native bush - I have managed to keep it away so far but want to get rid of all of it. I have been digging it up but the clumps are huge and deep and of course any little root you leave comes up as a plant the next year. Boiling water does not work. I have resorted to poison which I hate... if anyone has any other suggestions that would be great!
