Maybe the diagonal thing issue is to do with composition. Horizontal lines are stable and suggestive of calm and the horizon, vertical are more exciting and active. Diagonals suggest tension and movement. Probably hard wired into us somehow.

There’s nothing wrong with a little asymmetry in a bathroom- who wants their special room to look like everyone else’s? I’ve never designed the same bathroom twice.

I know from my youth in America, that in many fortunate family bathrooms, dare I say even children's own bathrooms, there is sanitary ware especially designed and often installed for children. I have always thought that was a great practical, if not lusciously extravagant, idea......for those with the space annnd means ;) Then..... when grandchildren/visiting children come along......perfecto ;))
