10. Personality-packed
The owners of this kitchen, designed by Sheffield Sustainable Kitchens, chose a versatile grey for the cabinetry. So far, so practical – but it’s the splashback that turned the space into something altogether more special.
Patterned tiles in teal and yellow add a striking contrast to the neutral woodwork, while yellow tones in the lighting and flooring provide a balance.

9. An organisation station
Appliance cabinets have been cropping up in kitchens on Houzz for quite a while, and their popularity shows little sign of waning. So it’s no surprise that this shot of a kitchen designed by Indie & Co is the ninth most-saved kitchen photo in our countdown.
The cupboard here doesn’t just function as a breakfast station, though – it also doubles as a cocktail bar in the evening.

8. Broken-plan inspiration
As noted in our summer 2021 trends roundup, many homeowners are looking for ways to divide their open-plan spaces. The quest for multi-functional zones has made it necessary to create separation, and this space, designed by Built Works, manages to combine division and connection perfectly.
The bright, open kitchen-diner is divided from the library by a large doorway, while shelving frames the opening to give it an additional function and add some character to the space.

7. Flexible seating
If you prefer casual get-togethers to formal dinner parties, this kitchen, designed by Davonport, could provide the ideal inspiration.
The cosy upholstered bench seating allows for a flexible number of guests to sit comfortably around the table. The position of the table is handy, too, as the cook can chat to everyone easily and quickly pass over the food when it’s ready.

6. Dark green and marble
A big colour trend for this summer is green, and designers have been using different shades of the nature-inspired hue in every room.
It works particularly well in kitchens, as this space by John Lewis of Hungerford shows. Dark green cabinets provide a soothing backdrop to the brighter white surfaces elsewhere, and the beautiful veining on the marble splashback balances the contrasting tones.

5. Stunning glazing
Natural daylight is key for boosting wellbeing, so perhaps that’s why the kitchen in this home renovation by Imperfect Interiors is so popular.
Gorgeous steel-framed glazing at the rear creates a light-filled space with a view of the garden, while a generous rooflight brings plenty of illumination to the centrally located cooking area.

4. Light fantastic
Yet more glazing appears in this fourth place kitchen, created by Paul Archer Design. The relatively narrow room has been made to appear more spacious and brighter with clever use of glazing. A large glass pivot door continues up to a glass ceiling, while a fixed glazed panel adds even more light to the right side of the rear wall.

3. Brilliant storage
Organisation ideas are always popular on Houzz, particularly those that help homeowners to achieve a tidy kitchen.
Sola Kitchens has combined form and function with the pantry cupboard in this deep blue scheme. Solid wood shelves and drawers provide plenty of room for the owners to store away all their dry goods and access them quickly when needed.

2. Calm and collected
This beautiful, tranquil kitchen designed by Shere Kitchens features a few of this year’s interiors trends. The sage island showcases the green mentioned earlier; the rest of the space incorporates natural materials, such as wood, wicker and houseplants, as well as calm hues including white, cream and terracotta, all of which feature regularly in homes right now to create a restful haven.

I wish I get to finish my house someday
Gosh. itmust be me. Although all are pleasent, i feel i've seen it all before. They all have the common denomitor of the ubiquitous kitchen island. Sorry to be churlish, they are all lovely, but i would just like to rough them up a bit. An old kitchen table would bring them down a level, in a good way. Forgive me.
