1. What is Houzz looking for?
- Innovative homes and makeovers.
- Homes of all sizes, especially small to medium-sized houses, flats and gardens built or renovated on a budget.
- Furnished spaces. Readers love to see homes as they were meant to be lived in.
- High-resolution, clear, well-lit photos. It’s best to hire a professional photographer, who will capture images at least 2,400 pixels wide and show your project at its best.
- Budget info. Some costs may be more or less than people might think – this information helps advance homeowners’ understanding of when they may be ready to take on a similar project.
2. How will I get my project noticed?
The Houzz editorial team reviews new home design photos as they come in. (It’s one of the best perks of the job!) The team then writes featured stories on those we think will resonate most with the community. Featured stories are independent editorial; they are not paid placements or written in exchange for products, advertising or services.
To submit a project for consideration as an editorial feature, first upload your photos to your Houzz profile.

3. How many photographs will Houzz need from me?
A full Houzz Tour requires strong, professional photography (wide and close-up shots) of at least a living area, a kitchen, a bedroom and a bathroom – but preferably much more. We need 10 or more images.
A room, extension or kitchen story requires at least seven high-quality images of one room or space in a home.

4. What should I include in my photography?
Each image, especially where there is a series of multiple shots of the same space or room, needs to show something different – a different angle or a more cropped instead of a wide shot, for example.
We like the homes we feature to look lived in and we’re generally unable to use photographs taken at an angle.

5. Share a floorplan
Homeowners frequently post comments on our Houzz Tour stories asking if we have floorplans to share. If a professional has uploaded a plan for a project we feature, we’ll nearly always include it in our story.

6. Do you have any ‘before’ photos?
You do? Then…
You do? Then…
Upload them!
We love to see room makeovers and smaller projects that show the design process from start to finish.

Does Houzz cover commercial projects editorially?
Currently we feature residential rather than commercial projects. We like properties that have people living in them and who were involved in the project (though we won’t need to name or identify your clients).
If you would like to suggest a project, please make sure your images of it are uploaded to your Houzz profile, and then send an email with the link to the project to ukeditor@houzz.com - and do let us know if the clients found you on Houzz, as that’s always a bonus!
