Richard, thank you so much for explaining the background so kindly. I appreciate it. It would’ve actually been great if you’d mentioned that in the text. I’m not saying that in a chiding way, but in a, hmm, it would be good if more articles mentioned environmental impact of their projects. To spread the principles, and <pour encourager les autres.> :) :)

Well I have to admit this looks less imposing than most extensions of this nature. That roofline and use of cork helps here. In fact the use of cork is interesting full stop. I'm not a fan of ply but blacking it all up takes it to another level. I do still feel that this is yet another box extension but the use of London brick, the preservation of the existing outer wall and those charming rooflights lifts it above the ordinary of so many we see on Houzz. Wonder whether there are actually any original Victorian terraced properties left?

Beautiful extension! Love the cork and love your ink stained ply cabinets. I'd be v. grateful if you could share the method of ink application and any lessons learned. How is it for keeping clean? Does dirt 'stick'? Would also love to know appliance brand. Many thanks
