Precisely, and that is why I can shut off my glass space (solar gain addition) from the house. A small power plant would work too - or wearing insulated outerwear. Cold air rolls off of glass - it pretty much radiates cold when it is cold outside. Why fight reality? Glazing is the opposite of energy efficient. I used plate glass because anything higher performing is a waste of money relative to an insulated wall. A solar gain plane is a net loser of energy typically if it cannot be insulted at non gain times or shut off from the conditioned space.

As far as comfort - ask anyone that works in a glass wall office building what it is like in the summer and winter. It is a case of aesthetics over comfort or other practical considerations like energy. It makes for a good magazine/portfolio picture. This is what I do for a living. But if you really want to find out replace a large wall of your house with glass - why not, right?
