Cupboards to the ceiling are my ideal, leaving nowhere for cobwebs and grime to collect, so for the same reason I'd keep open shelving to the minimum. The tiny island on wheels looks already like a dumping ground, and would need to be moved out of the way most of the time if there are two or more people working in the kitchen!

If you do put any laundry appliances ( or any other appliances come to think of it ) under your stairs ... please consider using a fire proofing lining to protect your stairs in the event of anything combusting . Stay safe peeps ! :-)
