Good point Elisha Goss - and perhaps another reason why the perspex artworks are popular - they are bolted to the wall, rather than hanging from a hook. We've had hotels specify them in place of a bedhead - and you can be sure safety is a concern for them!

I have had pictures above my bed in every bedroom I've ever lived in. Never has a picture fallen down - not even when my top flop flat swayed heavily in an earthquake. If they are hung properly, on the right size picture hooks, they are no more likely to fall down than any picture in any other room. And, thinking about that, never has a picture fallen down in any other room. Nor have heavy mirrors fallen down - they need to be hung using rawl plugs and screws.
