Mid-Wales Parky

Wow, I love it, but it's a shame that so many aspects are rather "samey" - such as tiling and plumbing goods in bathrooms. It just makes me think of "job lot". I do love the colours, though and many of the hidden door touches and so on. I wouldn't be able to get away from the fact that it's a 1950s bungalow, though - the exterior is obviously better than the originaol was, but still a long way from my taste. Finally, Linsey has done an excellent job if the spec was to retain that 50s bungalow feel, but brought up to date for the 2020s, but I have always hated windows that are a slit sited high up. Of course, I understand the reasons, but I'd just put some lovely sheer curtains at windows that allowed you to see much lower down, not those slits that remind me of living in a basement.

I think the new layout is very successful and the interior is lovely. And I think the kitchen is very successful- it’s nice to see something other than a boring shaker panel door and the reeded glass is an practical and elegant touch.

Outside doesn’t work for me- I think that when high windows were used on mid century building they were a second window, I think a deeper window would have been less of a personal choice and would have helped balance the unusual roof overhang which now looks redundant. Personally I think they should have had built brick piers below the roof overhang to make them look somewhat supported and balanced, in turn it would have made the building more imposing and done with thought could have helped provide the privacy the owners were seeking.

My dream home, I love everything about it! Slightly agree with previous comment on the similarity of the guest bathrooms but doesn’t detract too much for me. An amazing and inspirational refurb.
