Ah, reading more comments and enlarging the photos, I see that the chipped limestone is not under the slide, rather it's smooth flagstone. Still, why walk through chipped limestone, or jump over it, or trample the plants to get to the play area? And what would landing on flagstone feel like? Grass underfoot grounds a child and cushions a landing.
