At least they got rid of that evil plastic grass, though I don’t know how on earth it’s disposed of.

@Sonia, if the Cercis is in a sheltered spot, you should be ok, but it is a native of Southern Europe and the Middle East - so a really severe, cold winter could potentially harm it. Prunus 'Kanzan' might possibly be ok as an alternative (though it does get big over time). These days there are a plethora of root-anchoring solutions for city gardens. Good luck.

Thank you @ Sensescape, good to know. The one I wanted grows to 10m high by 10m wide, according to the RHS, which is far too wide for my little garden which is only 5m wide, so even though it is classed as a small tree it isn’t really. I’m now looking at a small crabapple Malus Coralburst which is a mere 2.5m high and wide. Maybe a bit too small but there are few mini trees about! Very pretty flowers and fruit later on for the birds. What do you think?
