Along with spending time in the company of loved ones, a perfectly wrapped gift under the tree is one of the best things about Christmas. And you don’t need to go out and buy fancy wrapping paper, either. Personalising paper yourself is the perfect way to make your gift look pretty and feel even more special. The secret is in the detail.
PollyPapier
You can create your very own personalised wrapping paper with some basic materials. Make yours stand out and treat your loved ones to something handmade.

Materials and tools
  • Stickers, available in stationery shops
  • Dymo tape
  • Kraft paper or any type of plain paper
  • Scissors
  • Raffia string
  • A little gift to wrap
  • An A4 sheet of white paper
PollyPapier
1 Start by choosing a pattern on the internet (as this is for private, non-commercial use, there is no need to worry about copyright). Here, we chose little stars.

2 Place the sticker sheet in your printer and print the star pattern onto it. We did it here with two sorts of star patterns. Anything is possible, just make it fun!

3 Place the gift in the centre of your chosen wrapping paper.

4 Crop the wrapping paper around the gift as tightly and as perfectly as possible, and fold down to a straight edge to hide any scissor mistakes.

5 Wrap the paper around the present.

6 Use the Dymo tape to seal the paper. The tape used here is festive, but you could use plain if you prefer.

7 Once your present is wrapped, you can start customising it to make it different and all the more special.

8 Add your star stickers wherever you fancy, and make it fun.

Use raffia string or ribbon in a coordinating or contrasting colour to tie around the gift.

Be inventive! Get creative with your wrapping – add the knot where you fancy, or tie a bow. It’s entirely up to you.
