Best of Houzz 2025: The Winning Design Projects
From kitchens to bedrooms and beyond, be inspired by a selection of this year’s most popular home and garden designs
Want to see which home and garden projects were the most saved into ideabooks over the past 12 months? The 2025 Best of Houzz winners have just been announced and there’s inspiration for every room. Each year, we look through thousands of photos that professionals have uploaded to Houzz to find the most popular images in the UK and Ireland. These projects make it into our annual Best of Houzz: Design awards.
The winners are divided into categories covering different parts of the home and different regions. Here, we take a look at a small selection of the overall winners, but to see the regional breakdowns and many more winners, you can find everything in one place here.

Best kitchens
Recent Houzz research revealed that, along with blue, grey and white, green is one of the most popular colours for kitchen cabinets. That’s certainly borne out by many of the Best of Houzz winners this year, including in this soothing scheme by Gemma Dudgeon Interiors.
In addition, white or very pale worktops are a standout feature across the board, while having an island in a different, usually deeper shade also features strongly.

Best dining rooms
Being able to gather to eat with friends and family is important for lots of us and that’s reflected in the winning designs: many are masterclasses in making a dining area feel comfy and intimate.
As in this scheme by Fraher & Findlay Architects, soothing, earthy colours; plenty of interesting objects, such as artworks and plants, around the table; comfortable seating, and layered lighting are features common to many of the designs.
Cosy upholstered bench seating appears in several schemes, too, including some inviting corner banquettes like this one.

Best utility rooms
There’s definitely a country feel to many of the winning laundry room designs this year, echoing the rise in searches for country cottage interiors on Houzz.
Numerous cabinets feature Shaker-style doors in pinky beige, soft green, off-white or pale blue. And bespoke storage is popular, with everything from rails and pull-out drying racks to open shelves for baskets and plenty of closed cupboards, as in this utility room by Blackburn Architects.

Best hallways
Hallway storage has seen an uptick in searches on Houzz over the past year and some of the schemes take that to the max. This design by Ensoul, for example, features made-to-measure cubbyholes for all the family’s shoes and boots.
Projects in more compact hallways show ways to squeeze in at least some storage, whether a useful console table, simple understairs cupboards, or pull-out units that take care of everything from shoes and bags to luggage.

Best bedrooms
Bedrooms are no longer just spaces to lay our heads – most of us are looking for a cosy sanctuary, and the winning designs in this category reflect that.
Natural materials, layered textiles and soft colours, as in this design by iLoftconversions, stand out in numerous projects. Several also have a storage unit or bench at the bottom of the bed, while some larger spaces include armchairs to complete the retreat mood.

Best bathrooms
Walk-in showers, with either a low tray, as in this scheme by JLArchitecture, or none at all, and with minimal glass screens, lead the way in this year’s popular bathroom designs, resulting in spaces that feel light and airy.
Colour is creeping in, mostly in the form of tiled and painted walls, but also, in some of the regional winners, through basins in earthy yellow and pale pink.

The winning living room designs all prioritise cosiness and personalisation, reflecting a widespread desire for a calm, comfortable sanctuary. Plenty of tactile textiles, natural materials and decorative objects help many of the rooms to feel welcoming and enveloping.
Storage is key, with numerous media walls and alcove cupboards on show, as in this scheme by Souq.Studio. Crucially, there’s lots of open shelving filled with everything from books to ceramics to lamps and plants for a cosy mood.
