Why would you recommend two that are not native. There are already to many non-native invasive plants here in the US.

To everyone looking to keep deer at bay it's worth noting that nothing is truly deer resistant. I have been in my house 6 years and have expanded my garden every year without any issues. Suddenly in 2020 everything was on the menu even supposedly deer resistant plants. It's horrible to see everything eaten even after treating with several different repellants. I try to be magnanimous, after all the deer need to eat and are constantly being pushed out of their habitat, but it's so disheartening. I'm hoping it doesn't come down to fencing my entire yard because it would be cheaper to move!

Although I prefer natives whenever possible, you didn’t mention one of our southern favorites— Crinum Lilies have been used down-south for generations and are virtually indestructible. If you prefer natives, Swamp/String Lilies are a native option, though they prefer moist locations.
