I started tiling one wall in my kitchen--the wall the oven sits against--with black-and-white checkerboard tile. Then I decided the checkerboard filling two walls (that one and the abutting) would be too much, so bought a small white subway tile for the adjoining wall. Started installing that, and my husband fell in love with it, as did the point that we've decided to rip out the dozen or so sq. ft. of checkerboard and fill both walls with the white subway, and save the rest of the checkerboard for our shower. I'm not looking forward to ripping it out, and I'm kind of sad about it, but I think it's going to make the kitchen look a lot bigger and less busy (and it opens up a lot more possibilities for the floor, which I'm painting because I can't afford to replace the tile currently on it).

(The kitchen is only 14 x 16, so I'm doing everything I can to make it look bigger.)

Why would you think I would need to see 13 "fad" tile ideas?
