I think it's time for a fresh article on keeping dust at bay. A few "new" tools are available. I just learned that solid cork flooring lasts as long as hardwood floors but repels dust mites. Sold! Also, my new Roomba i3 is a big improvement over my first Roomba. I like even the old one because it didn't trigger my allergies like my HEPA-filtered vacuum did. Besides, I program it to clean when I am away. I have some leather furniture and some cane but don't want ALL leather furniture. I see the advice about washable slipcovers on fabric furniture, but what about the cushions and the furniture parts that are upholstered? I read about diatomaceous earth, but am not familiar. And the biggie...bedding. Mattress covers, DE, what sheet materials are less lint-producing? Same for draperies. Yes... Get blinds, but aren't there any fabrics less likely to shed lint and harbor mites?

I have green glowing nightlights that don't disrupt night vision but provide enough light for a trek through the house. They are flat and travel well too. The hardest part is remembering to UNPLUG and pack one. I also have that toilet bowl light which I agree is great.

Great article! I have Pergo laminate floors in my kitchen and wash them with the recommended diluted vinegar and water (chemical free). My bedroom has a relaxing light neutral color scheme. I use only glass or ceramic to reheat foods in my microwave, and only use glass containers to store food in my fridge. I dont have any rugs in my kitchen. I do have an anti- fatigue mat in front of my sink area. I have special filters on my shower heads to filter out chlorine. I wash my clothing with All Free & Clear of perfume and dyes. I enjoyed reading everyones comments!
