Jen B - KITCHEN ( and outdoor dining)
FOUR IMPORTANT THINGS : 1. The kitchen is my dream space. Jeff (my husband) has claimed the backyard as his. Jeff doesn't really care all that much about the kitchen. I DO! 2. In our soon-to-be-home, the existing floors in the kitchen/ dining likely have asbestos underneath. So, our Inspector said to lay flooring OVER them rather than pull them up - it will save us money and POISONING. 3. I love glass cabinets and l adore quirky round, open shelves, and plate racks, to show off my FIESTAWARE, CORNINGWARE, and my GRANDMA'S MILK GLASS DISHES :) I want a kitchen built with my vintage, pastel dishes in mind. 4. I love vintage kitchens --- our soon-to-be house was built in 1944 - so a modern kitchen will look weird. In my humble opinion...
"Kitsch"-en. LOVE THIS! I love the high-back sink and the simple backsplash. I like the faucet. And pops of retro red. Fresh, open and bright cabinet colors. Oven is a vintage dream. I like the shape of the cabinets. The round open shelves are IDEAL. I love most everything except I'd want glass cabinets somewhere. Jeff (my husband) likes wood somewhere in the kitchen - I would compromise with the floor or counter tops.
Pretty GREAT! I know Jeff will like the counter tops I hate DARK colored countertops. But, a warm cherry-colored wood would be okay. the one thing I ADORE about this kitchen - and I always wanted, are those little round shelves on the outer edge of the base cabinets. I love them! I also love the vintage detail on the shelf inside the glass cabinets. I love the sink window panel curtain to let lots of light in. I like the floor. I LOVE THIS SPACE! I'd just add a brighter wall paint.
Love the color of cabinets! I hate the wood backsplash and window frames. This space is TOO RURAL, but on the idea of what I'd like. I appreciate the farm-chic thing - as long as it does NOT lean into RUSTIC. DISTRESSING is distressing! I am also NOT fond of sayings on walls like "FAMILY" or "EAT". (not pictured here).
love - open shelving, the little half-circle shelves on the left edge wall, the vintage oven, the white and freshness of it. Notice the Fiestaware, proudly displayed! Not crazy about the flooring - too busy. And the idea of the table is interesting, but I'd rather not lose the footage for cabinet storage. I also am not totally sold on the SHAKER doors. They are a bit boxy for me. But, i am open-minded if they are painted.
THIS IS MY DREAM for the BATHROOM or KITCHEN FLOOR!!!
love the legs, HATE the top. I'm basically describing the dinning table i already have.
love the floor and those shelves climbing up the wall in the down right part of the photo. We think (we hope) under the nasty carpets throughout the house, there are hardwood floors that we will refinish. I wouldn't want competing wood floors in the kitchen/ dining. I'd want them to be cohesive and in harmony.
I'd consider a smaller dining area to get more counter top and storage space in the kitchen area. So we could get a smaller dining table - and then coat our current dining table to use OUTDOORS! This could be a solution! If so, I like the quaintness of this table - but ALL WHITE.
this is so fresh and clean. just NOT the natural wood color cabinets. I'd prefer white cabinets in this scenario. But I love all of the drawers.
this FLOOR would make me SO HAPPY! ( i could put it in the bathroom if we don't choose it for the kitchen) but with light blue or yellow or pistachio or aqua colored cabinets (not these DARK cabinets - bleugh). I like the glass cabinet doors... and a hanging dishrack. Black and white flowered tiles in the kitchen or bathroom will make me smile every day of my life!!!
cute dining set - would want color on the walls and lighter colored cushions
i LOVE this pantry idea (hate the purple lower cabinet color). There is a hall closet just off of the kitchen in our soon-to-be home. It could serve as a pantry if we don't have enough storage space.
LOVE glass cabinets to show off my Fiestaware and my GRANDMA'S MILK GLASS DISHES she gave me :) I also like painting inside the cabinets. cute!
Love the color and shape of these cabinets! I'd add my dishes and such to warm it up. it's a little cold with blue and stainless steel.
cute table - would want brighter color on the walls and lighter seat cushions - black is too serious
This is cheerful and fun. i don't like how the dishes are placed, but I love the top-of-the-room open shelving. I love the SCALLOPED wood over the window. I hate the back splash. NO COPPER or METAL, PLEEEEEEEZE. The floor is okay. Not my favorite. Jeff will hate that floor.
i love the touches of RED - but a bit heavy on the 'authenticity". It seems like a film set. THEME PARK looking.
pretty backsplash - not crazy about the dark floor. HATE the veiny countertops.
This is fresh and pretty. A hint of pale yellow in the cabinet color - which I like. Glass cabinets are a dream. Would like lighter countertops. Not a huge fan of the backsplash.
I like white or silver sinks only. Copper looks poopy to me.
i like rectangular subway tile in matte. I HATE small tile on a backsplash. I hate gloss and shine on a tile. And I don't like complex patterns of backsplash tile. Simple is great! I do't mind a color. But, ONE color.
I don't know a ton about ceiling fans or lighting. But, I like that this is simple for the dining/ kitchen area. I don't like hanging lighting (pendant). It's invasive and an eye sore.
love open round shelving
pretty color cabinets
with lighter counter tops and less "steel", this could be great.
I like the freshness of this space. I am on the fence with the counter top. I don't know that Jeff would be on board with these counter tops. I do not like the sink. I like the floor.
The backsplash is too busy - but I like the idea of a warm yellow to liven up those gray cabinets. I'd prefer that all the cabinets matched in color.
I like the cabinet shape and color. I like the backsplash - in the backsplash area. But I think they've tiled the ceiling???!! YUCKY!!! I HATE everything else.
i like the pastel cabinet and the simplicity.
There is a door in the kitchen that leads to the back yard. But, it cuts off the kitchen. In order to create more kitchen space, we were hoping to make the current door a window or wall it up, and create a new door where there is a window in the dining area. This can lead to our outdoor dining space (our DIY).
OUR DIY PROJECT - OUTDOOR DINING: We want to make an outdoor dining/ grilling space. The next few photos are included in with the Kitchen Idea Book to keep you in the loop on our outdoor design ideas. Then the scope of the house is more cohesive. perfect dining set
I like the pergola!
I like white pergola. It'd match the exterior of a white and pink home! Jeff will want natural wood color. he will win this one. I GET THE KITCHEN! :)
LOVE this stuff. Under a pergola! NOT THE FIREPIT! Jeff will want a fire pit. Again - he gets the yard, I get the kitchen.
SO GRRRREAT!
I LOVE the retro outdoor SCREEN!!!
YES! Nature and a retro chair! LOVE the midcentury metal outdoor furniture.
peaceful
lovely
I'd want brighter or more fun fabrics and pillows... but I like this furniture. Palm Springs!!!
We LOVE the mid century "breeze blocks". I'm pretty sure there is nowhere to put these. BUT THEY ARE SO WONDERFUL!
love retro outdoor gliders!
LOVE this dining table for outside - this is where we'd do most of our entertaining. would want a colorful pillows around.
I ALREADY OWN THIS. This is my current dining room cabinet holding my treasures - Fiestaware, Corningware, milk glass dishes, and mementos from our life together (my parent's wedding topper). I would want to include this in the dining area. I also love the color of the wall, which I painted four years ago.
I ALREADY OWN THIS. This is our current dining table. I really like it. It has some nicks and bruises, but it's what I love. I would not want ANYTHING other than this guy. He's my favorite.
FYI - the living room in the SMALL house is open to the dining area - so the rooms need to be in harmony. This is our current living room - we are open to changing the wall color but the general color scheme will be the same. That is our cat - Marshmallow :)
FYI - Current Living room - color scheme is gray/brown and orange and turquoise. And more Marshmallow :)
FYI ---- will probably be on a wall in our bedroom. This won't directly affect your design - I am just excited about it.
SORT OF PERFECT. - MODERN BUT WITH THOSE VINTAGE COLORED PISTACHIO CABINETS. Don't like the floor so much. Jeff won't for sure.
