Wish List
Great way to see our kitchen through new eyes, love the big beams, the range hood the tile backsplash, the open area above the range the island layout, the sink obviously different but I do like the breaking up of the massive wall with counter space in between the buffet area and the fridge and stove area if there is any space... I think it sort of calls for it...Maybe an open cabinet like the notes on my prior save...for holding dishes etc...
Heres a good look at how a large long space can fit a large kitchen, a large long island, a wall of cabinets, and still a dining table and with our home, perhaps a living room would still fit comfortably, but I believe without removing the entire wall that sits behind the ovens and the hall wall on LR side it may not look right or fit, and/or push the room out to the edge of porch and then its a no brainer, we would actually then have a FULL LIVING ROOM AREA, A FULL DINING ROOM AREA THAT ISNT SO SEPARATED FROM THE KITCHEN LIKE THE EXISTING TRUE DINING ROOM AND THEN THE BREAKFAST AREA WOULD HAVE ITS OWN SPACE, BUT WE WOULDNT NEED IT, SO WE COULD CREATE WINDOW SEATS FOR TONY AND PUT IN A PROPER FIREPLACE THAT COULD DO GAS OR WOOD,
Hello, theres that ladder again! How useful would this thing be in our greatroom and kitchen, with floor to ceiling cabinets in the pantry, kitchen and possibly living room imagine the possibilities plus, all the recessed lights in the areas where the ladder would go would be much easier to switch out!
I so want to do this somewhere!>? Where could we do it? The basement is an obvious choice but libraries tend to be much more appealing and stunning when they have the visual height going for them...Perhaps the best way to get the height desired for a library in this home would be to utilize a portion of the greatroom if we did in fact push the room out to the edge of the porch like we've been discussing, in so doing, one corner of the living area could have two facing walls of full height library books like this! Maybe the walls where the bench is now...We could utilize the same ladder in the kitchen AND it would provide a much needed heavy visual balance and COUNTERWEIGHT if you will for the massive wall of cabinetry on the opposite side of the room in the kitchen. That will def be something to consider when we layout the overall scheme etc. Its going to be tricky with the openings being shaped (if that doesn't change) to get the massive openness to jive with the more closed off and heavy visual weight of the massive thickness of the walls there, its a different sort of visual weight, more heft, but less obtrusive...Anyway, with the height, it would be super cool and work we...
The ovens side by side rather than one on top of the other allow for both to be used easily! I think our space would allow with the pantry now done. Remember to discuss this with Tom . I also love the occasional open shelf to break up the wall of cabinets, our fridge is huge but we have a lot of length to work with and perhaps we can lose the partial wall that frames in the fridge to gain a bit more there...
Things to show to Tom: Sliding ladder , then show him the one on pinterest where they store it right on the side of the full height when it would be in the way... also the stacked cabinetry, I like the idea for display at the top of the full wood door cabinetry as well, would break up the wood everywhere, however, I think we may not do uppers at the stove area, still laying that out in my mind, it will probably be either skinny glass fronted cabinet towers on each end of the cooktop base with either a stone or moroccan tiled full backsplash and a drywalled and stucco'd shaped hood wot beautiful raw wood corbels and perhaps some thick raw wood trim to keep in style with the revival period. Im thinking of doing a light color wash on the island but so scared to be trapped into a particular color... I definitely want a thick wood top somewhere maybe live edge style or maybe just beautiful walnut with an amazing shape and or routed detail, either way, for the granite I def. want the same edge we had on Tavern! I also would like the same travertine tops we had in the bathroom for the countertops in the kitchen that aren't thick wood, it was my absolute favorite stone ever! The flo...
French doors off bedroom, lighter walls, but not orangey like this, wood framed windows, dark wide plank floors, add skylights, fireplace, and double french doors and Im in, as well as a deck to connect with the front deck but a little private corner off to the side for us... Make the ceiling lighter than the walls possibly too, but dark beams.
Well hello, imagine if we took out sliders in back and framed in the porch with windows and finished the interior to match the homes interior, instant dining room, view porch, sitting areas, space to move around in living room and opens up the home esp if you remove that wall to kitchen and open it up
Utilizing space for loft, sleeping loft for guests, with a mattress on small platform that lifts or has drawers for storage of linens and guests clothing, as well as a bookshelf library wall and small desk with knee space and cushy poofs and great textures like sweater blankets, nubby rugs, macrame wall hanging/plants, aged wood railing to match window jamb framing
Oh what I wouldn't give to add on to our place like this, with steel roof, nice big beams, huge windows, rustic but open deck railing, 2nd story for views and a space for elevator! Lots of places to apply solar panels, beautiful wood exterior, could be cement siding that looks like wood.... just amazing.. Now just add gardens and greenery!
Boy if we did this, we could have a dining room, a library, a study and still combine the pantry/laundry and get a coat closet and remember our home has high ceilings and two sets of sliders, which I would do as french doors, and fireplace too! It would just need a big bigger kitchen and Id prefer it had the island facing the living room for conversation and inclusion of cook with rest of household
It would be really cool to add that nook off the kitchen, extending the deck to face the pool on that side, providing views from the kitchen in a much more thought out way, and then add a second story to it , preferably interior but even a deck would be amazing and allow almost 360 degree views, depending on the finished height and the neighbors trees etc, but it would def provide an uninterrupted view of our mountains in the front and no power lines, houses, junk to muck it up, ahhh just mountains and sky....
This is the feel we would get with my open concept design. Especially if we take advantage of the ceiling heights on the north and south facing walls of the home aka bedroom portions and kitchen/laundry/guest/bath we could add windows to bring in more light, add to the open feel, its also possible we could open the interior high walls in the l.r. that separate the l.r. from our room, tonys room and guest room and add windows there at the point where the ceiling is higher than the roofline of the changed pitch roof adjacent in the bedroom/kitchen portions of the home. Even fixed windows, made by us would add a huge amount of perceived space and a ginormous amount of light as they are going to be facing East, morning sun in LR now! and West, Sunset potential with big vast sunsets, and if we were smart, we would do a loft, bringing ceiling up a bit with clearstory windows to take advantage of the views 360 and provide a way to maybe see those sunsets again, either that or a rooftop patio,,,,or deck I want my sunsets back!
The rustic wood wall headboard treatment, that is what I think I want to do! Maybe in a chevron pattern or just angled one direction even but rough, distressed, and old looking like that with sconces and drawers and maybe an open chunky shelf or two on each side that are staggered instead of linear. That would help the space feel less tight I think.
Oh lord, the other side of the room, I am not into the fancy schmancy fluting and trims and appliqués but this is just beautiful. With a bleached chevron patterned brick, instead of regular brick, like a fireplace insert, that would make that niche pop as would simple chunky rough wood shelves and a simpler cut on the niche shape, perhaps a moroccan curved type, just need simplicity to make it beautiful...
I think I am in love. Its the warm wood tones, the rough aged surfaces , brightly colored rug the wall of books LOVE, the library ladder, the built in bookcases, the white wall bringing the space light and openness and letting the books speak for themselves as well as the texture on that island. just gorgeous and primitive feeling...
So simple and understated, yet elegant, lose the modern lighting etc, add some beautiful richly colored earthy rugs, dark wide plank flooring and iron chandeliers with farm style pendants or glass pendants that work with rustic decor
Turned kitchen design, use that high space just differently of course, I still think we could use that library ladder to utilize high storage with these high ceilings here.... Use rustic cabinetry and raised panel doors, baskets in island, nice, walnut thick wood top on island, no butcher block... antique bronze fixtures including pot filler, appliance panels, d.w in island, a bit of a higher counter maybe for dish hiding but maybe also d.w. pullout drawers so dishes are just easily loaded at a more waist height level and they get taken care of the 1st time they are rinsed...
Flip it, make it antiqued white rustic cabs with furniture feet and big simple mouldings, vaulted ceiling, windows on back and left walls, wide plank wood floors with nice rugs, appliance panels on fridge and after flip fridge wall has windows flanking fridge, no doorway there, unless kitchen is turned...
Imagine this flipped and see how fridge and stove could go on back wall, even with windows flanking stove or just fridge with windows and keep stove at current location, simplest option, or incorporate stove into island for a larger island that stays where it is now
Love the layout, just not the material choices, a wood hood, wood framed windows, chevron bleached brick wall behind stove or shiplap but wood toned, maybe, and gorgeous thick walnut wood top on island with old school wood and iron barstools that spin with foot rests, farm lighting, , sink to left, door moved, fridge on right... good work triangle that way
Great visual of opening up the walls but no dining area in that location as that would be porch but you can see the difference it would make and we have high ceiling in the kitchen as well, just pitch change so this does again show a good pic of that but ours would be higher inside kitchen, lots of windows, sink island, if we did turn the kitchen, a good layout love the floor
Just a visual of the difference lots of windows/french doors can make with the use of warm wood and natural materials a very natural, treehouse feeling
If we turned kitchen and put pantry laundry behind, an idea, imagine the kitchen table is the new island though and the kitchen is brought further forward and is bigger with the open vaulted ceilings much more light, better design and palette, more rustic with lots of rough wood and stone with beautiful rugs to warm it up with warm wood tones
If we kept kitchen and pantry laundry in same locations but combined pantry laundry this might be the look, depending on how we do the island and utilize the hallway space the pantry here would be the sliding barn doors to the combo pantry laundry room but way wider...
Just a glimpse of how it might look to open the guest room hallway wall and the left return wall with trash center
Love the color of the dark cabinets , perhaps a bit less opaque a bit more rough or rustic looking, a larger but simpler crown moulding and different furniture feet, no arch, wide plank walnut flooring, the dark color could be the island and the rest could be slightly lighter for an overall lighter look esp when putting in dark wood floors, more windows will help as will skylights and opening up the rooms
Love the island, would love the oven and hood if a bit more shapely with some wood in there... lovely sink window wall, coffered ceiling, hate the light fixtures but love the wood floors with rugs, just not those rugs
Dreamy, if our kitchen was done under same roofline, this is how we could do it, like I said, fridge would be where stove and wood hood are so we can use the high ceiling on other two walls for great focal points for wood hood, and sink windows, I like the beams wrapping the ceiling, but we have those already, the wood floors with the light cabinets and the dark island and love that hood, maybe metal but hey, either way, its gorgeous. Theres those furniture feet again, very country rustic...
This is really beautifully and tastefully done and surprisingly open and large feeling due to the color and material choices. The stone flooring, delicious, the creamy whites, the subtle brown distressed wood tones and the beams. A very natural feel. So funny, I have that Pier One pillow too...
Layout for a turned kitchen with open concept removing wall back to guest room entrance. Rustic though
I think adding furniture feet to our toe kicks would add a nice touch and bring the rustic farm feel to the kitchen more. Also, the antiquing, I would do a slightly darker definitely browner (less red) glaze over top existing cabs for a more distressed aged brown look to go with the aged walls Ill be doing
Another completely different option for turning the kitchen and opening up the wall for giant views and lots of sunlight. Open space galore...
If we turned the kitchen I like this layout a lot, just flipped so fridge is on opposite wall, and of course, more rustic...
Whoa, I really like this idea for the kitchen/pantry/laundry, if wall of cabs separating rooms was glass uppers, it would allow light to pass through, add to the open feel concept and we could even use the barn door idea like I had planned to leave an even more open feel as the pantry/laundry combo is going to be beautiful and roomier!
Love the open space. Too white but lovely
I like the idea of the twig hanger for the lanterns. Interesting. Prob would just do a large branch with led lighting...
Lord, is this just a bedroom! Its bigger than my whole house. :(
Love the grass rugs and the stumps, the natural feel, modern is not my style but this is a good mix of natural and modern
Oh yea, rustic. this would be perfect for the front yard gardens
Love the large stone fireplace add a pizza oven somewhere in the design without ruining the look of the fireplace and Im in!
Love the led's under the furniture. Gonna need to remember this for nighttime parties!
