Exterior
This is a good example of what ship lap looks like from close up. Although this is an interior bathroom haha. I like the look, and could see us running horizontal for the main house level and then turning vertical at the peaks. We could even play around with the width of each board. for instance 5.5" for the horizontal siding and 2.75" width for the vertical pieces running up. or some type of alternating pattern. We'll have to lay that out to see if it works but one idea. Would you want to paint to match the siding color around the house? Stacey: I like the idea of narrow horizontal and wider vertical. Paint color just not sure. The paint could be the current gray or change it up...
In my head this is what I mean when I say shiplap...I like the "flat to the house" horizontal and not overlapping boards...relatively narrow...I think the narrow looks more modern. While it may make a designer's skin crawl, I'm actually not at all opposed to having the back of the house be this and the front be clapboard. May change my mind once up, but that's where I am at now.
