Here's how a dishwasher looks next to a range. If you do it, they have to be a perfect match. A panel might be easier! ALSO-- manufacturers seem to recommend a minimum of 2 inches between a range and dishwasher. (GE site) Here is something else a homeowner did to give wiggle room around appliances: We left 24" for the dishwasher and 36" for the range even though neither of our appliances is actually that big. Our cabinetmaker just put filler in to cover the difference; it can be unscrewed in the future if someone wants to put a 24" dishwasher or 36" range in, with no cabinet hacking needed. That was important to me, since we were remodeling a kitchen with lots of "cubbies" for 1940s appliances that couldn't adjust to modern dimensions at all. So we actually did that for all three appliance spaces (36" for the fridge though ours is only 30", with an adjustable shelf to allow for variable height).
Splurging on laundry rooms. Everyone knows that kitchens and bathrooms get the big remodeling dollars, but many homeowners are seeing value in making every space look great. And laundry rooms in particular are seeing more love. Design tricks to bring in more light, smarter storage and better function resonate with homeowners who realize that since they spend a lot of time doing laundry, why not do it in a space that makes them feel good?

Very tight kitchen with side-by-side appliances. They didn't plan adequate space for sink to dishwasher which must be a real problem!

Stained glass pieces. These round stained glass pieces add a funky, unexpected touch to this casual cottage-style kitchen. Select sheets of stained glass in colors that coordinate with your space. Cutting the round pieces does take time, so a smaller area like over the range may be the best location for this project. Tip: For a dynamic look, divide your backsplash into 50 percent 2-inch circles, 25 percent 1-inch circles and 25 percent ½-inch circles.
Cookbooks, wine, and oversized bowls. If you have a cabinet above the refrigerator, consider taking off the doors and adding a wine rack or an extra shelf for cookbooks, or even a few cool looking serving bowls. Typically this deep, dead space ends up being full of less used items that just take up space. Instead, use that space for a pretty presentation.
Drawer inserts are great option for kitchens short on wall cabinet storage. These caddies fit in lots of different cabinets sizes and you can pick up a whole stack of plates at once to set the table.
Veg bin and cabinets--full view.
Good chance I don't have space for this but this is a produce bin. Looks great, close to sink and prep area. Nice!
I like produce bins (potatoes, onions) and the tall dividers for cookie sheets, etc (though I would prefer those in the kitchen--just don't know where my space will be).
A drawer inside a drawer is a nifty way to save space and create a safe environment around children. “It’s a great way to keep sharp knives away from little hands,” Scheff says. “Plus, it’s a special and beautiful detail.”
This is very interesting. Probably like it more!
