2019 Living Room Remodel
A console height table could also work between the windows. Maybe with ottomans tucked underneath? Is there room for two? Would we want a writing desk there? I don't think so, since it wouldn't have a window view, so it might be wasted in that space. Or it could serve as the spot for additional lighting.
This renovation shows something of the look I like - of a neutral walls with bright colors throughout. I don't know that we'd go with the brightly colored chairs, but I like the green in the roman shades. I like switching out our wall grouping int he dining room, from fall paintings and darker colors for winter, to brights in the summer to go with out outdoor dishes, which we keep close at hand to eat outside. I'm not sure how to blend the mossier green that I like with this brighter green, nor a deeper teal or navy blue with a brighter aqua blue. But I like both.
I like the warmth of the color scheme, soft white trim, darker floor, neutral couch. Will we include a fan in our living room? I like this one - the modern look blends well with the traditional fireplace. I would want more color in the room, but could bring it in with pillows and artwork - and items on the shelves, rather than the basic furniture and walls. I don't like the recessed lights; or at least, need lamps as well for reading lights. like the drapes - semi sheer, not heavy and dark. Another value of more neutral basic colors is that we decorate red and green at Christmas and being able to add those colors without clashing would be nice.
I like the idea of to-the-ceiling units with nothing on top. perhaps a soffit with goose-neck lighting coming out to light up the units. this is too fussy, with the plants on top. How would we access to-the-ceiling units (9-foot high ceilings, perhaps 8-foot high bookshelves if lighting over them)? Display items rather than books, no ladder.
i like this blue. would we build the living room bookshelves in this rather than a white? need the new couches and other furniture first, I guess. would it work with the kitchen and dining room? need a color palette for the whole first floor. I'd be concerned about getting tired of the blue over time; perhaps it's a color in the room.
our 'pain point' is our living room layout. how to maximize seating for large family gathering, while making it work for everyday use? add shelves for books, audio equipment. closet doors - go to sliding doors to add width to couch area (but is there another, better layout than we have now that opens up the whole room?
bookshelf color - rather than white in our living room? large seating area with large coffee table. what would work inour living room? stools for seating. good for gatherings. Do we manage our living room as one large seating area, or have the book/audio shelves at one end with seating/conversation area at the other end?
don't do black frames; maybe just black sashes with white frames though
white sheer curtains on rings; rods halfway between top of frame and ceiling. like the look.
